Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

SO my Apillar bar will go from the roof halo down to the sliders. I wanted to do the cool look of having it go in the fender, but it is too much work to take the fenders off. I could get the tube to fit in there and everything to look nice, but I would only be able to weld it at most a little more than 1/2 at the bottom due to having the fender in the way, which I dont know about. Or I could run the bar down the outside, but im not sure I would like the look and I would still only to be able to weld the outside part on the bottom well due to it having a tight fit...... Opinions?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

take the fender off and do it the way you want it -- you'll be happy you put the extra work in when all is said and done.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

What a heavy SOB D44 axle can do to you, when it falls on you, and you land on a rim with it still in your hands and in your lap!

Agreed. The fenders really aren't that much work to take off. The cage you're building is a ton of work...why not add just a little more to get it the way you want it?

You'll be a ton happier with that hidden inside the fender...any other way would like kinda half ass in my honest opinion.

Do it how you want it. Otherwise you are going to question why you did not do it how you wanted in the first place. if you can bend the tube make the welds and the rest of the cagework, taking off the fenders should not be too challenging. As for the amount of welding at the sliders, if the sliders are not welded to the unit body, can you drop it all down to get more surface to weld? Then mount it correctly once welded? Just a thought.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

sliders are already welded. I think I need to remove my front bumper (pita) to take off the headerpanel to take off the fenders. I also have to cut off the mounts at the back back/bottom of the fender because the idiot who installed my sliders didnt flip them so the torx head is on the back of the slider. And if im taking off the fenders, I might as well find some straight pannles to put on? Anyone have black fron fenders for a 97+?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

geez! your like my dad! he runs his at 35psi or something crazy like that! 20PSI gives me an almost flat contact patch and provides a very smooth ride and i dont notice any MPG difference running them here vs 25 or 30.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I've been running 25psi in my 33x11.5s (or are they 12.5s? I forget) for a few years and haven't worn the tread funny yet.

They're slashed to hell from my fenders, rocks, etc though. I'll probably puncture them irreparably before I wear the tread out.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I ran 30+ psi all the time. had to wear down the centers somehow so the tread was even with the sides.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

n 30+ years of skiing, and 25+ of bowl/powder skiing, I've never experienced anything like yesterday. 31" of snow between mid-day Sunday and mid-day Monday... Morningside terrain on the back of the summit at steamboat undoubtedly had even more than the 31" at the summit. I had skiied Morningside with both boys and Sheila on Saturday, and even the black portions were fairly tame then -- steep, but fairly tame. On Monday morning (they opened Morningside after some avalanche testing at 9:15, I was in at 9:30) it was as close to backcountry skiing as you can imagine. The snow was nearly waist deep on me standing still, and way over my head when skiing it -- all jump turns, and totally crazy -- I haven't skied like that since I was young and dumb. At one point I caught a ski on a small pine-tree buried deep in the powder, lost the ski, tumbled 20+ feet downslope, and was buried under 2 feet of power that fell back in on me -- pitch black with all the weight of that snow right in my face/chest... an interesting sensation. I dug out, spent 10 minutes looking for my ski by braile, and had back at it for three more runs in the deep before the burning in my quads sent me back to tamer ground... although the whole mountain was a powder fest, no grooming anywhere, no grooming possible. My oldest son Tay (9) skied just off the side of a plain-old blue on our first run and literally disappeared... it took 10 minutes to dig him out and find his skis too! Simply awesome, and one for the memories!

I see how you are. Come to my hood and don't even call. Fookin tourists. I hear that storm was a 24 hour snow total record for the Boat.
