Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

:roflmao: That's a good one Chris! :roflmao:

Gotta love your sense of humor!

humor, in that it is somewhat mason like - in appearance - but I did actually just buy it from an old friend. Under the hood is a 460, bored 3 over with less than 10k on it, a granny 465, D60 kingpin front and D70 rear, both 5.38 geared with detroits. I think it will move a little bit of snow. Those are never-seen-pavement IROK 42x14r17's, and they will likely be for sale shortly, as they seem a bit high for plowing...:D

Depends on price :helpme:

less than the $506 apiece retail? Did I mention I have 5, so there's a full size spare? :guitar:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Oh....... you were serious. You actually bought that thing????

:D

I don't envy you having to fab up plow stuff onto that thing....... Gonna put a flat bed on it to give the arse-end some weight? Plowing could be interesting with it being bob-tailed....

Re: The Colorado BS thread

yep, found a loooong flat bed locally (10 feet), it needs some ass weight... I'm working a guy on craigslist for a plow that will bolt up supposedly, we'll see how it goes.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Knowing you....... you musta got one helluva deal on that beast....... ;)

Hopefully that bumper isn't welded on and create problems for a plow to bolt up....... that bumper looks massive and I can only imagine how it's fixed to the truck..... Is that a PTO winch?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I just quoted you to get this fine hunk of Fordness on yet another page. Where is that drool smiley? I thought we had a drool smiley?!?!?!

BTW, my daughter is squeezing 13.5 MPG out of her injected 460. :)

I hinted at it earlier, but I officially bought a work truck for the new homestead today, ya know for plowing driveways and hauling stuff -- masonesque (she's a sleeper);)

Re: The Colorado BS thread

it is indeed a 18k fully functional PTO. gnarly. I don't recall how we fixed the bumper up... I'll cross that bridge. Hell of a deal? Well, a lot less than it could be parted out for, but likely about what it would have fetched on craigslist -- the seller's a dear friend, so I couldn't really try to screw him...;) Cool story behind the truck too. It was a 78 highboy, F250 longbed, 351W, owned by another friend from college who died in a rockclimbing accident - just before he died, my friend Eric bought the rig from him, scrapped virtually every stock part, and built it to wheel. It's been sitting for a couple years and will need some love to come back to life, but its worth the effort for this one. Life three, as a work truck, again!

I'm sure Ira will chime in with similar sentiments, as a Ferd lover -- the only thing this 460 (500?) is injected with is angry rhino nuts! It would pull a house, and if I get any more tired with my daily demo at the money pit, it might. :D

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Ah. Yeah, a truck with some personal history does add some polish.

Have fun with it!

Re: The Colorado BS thread

it does, plus I know what I'm buying, who worked on it, what his mechanical skill level is (high) and such -- unlike the diceroll of a craigslist vehicle. If any of you guys have a lead on an inexpensive 7' plow, I'm in the market!

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Just as well get the thread for this rig started in the Other Rides and Builds.

You might want to keep those big tars on it, or regear so you don't just sit there and smoke the rubber.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

LOL, I've actually thinking that the furthest I'll dowsize is like 36, which makes me laugh. You're right though, the granny in that SM465 with 5.38's and that kind of power could be a serious 4-wheel-rubber eater -- although the beast does weigh a shitton.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

he's already got PM since there isn't much detail in that add...
