Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Can't wait to get back to the rockies. My job is boring and Houston sucks.

I've heard very good things about the M&P series.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Just put on my new RE 3.5 and adjusted my ACOS. The ride is a billion times better than with the old rusty's coils! Feels like a Cadillac! Now to get my 5160s through Serious OffRoad, and I will be super car status!

Also, anyone ever move their sway bar brackets forward? With the 1-2 inch stretch and angry coils, the sway bar is fighting with the coils on big bumps, I was thinking of somehow building a bracket to move it forward around 1-2"s

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Sway bars have saved our butts a couple times!

Or you would like to think so....... Seriously though they are overrated and just get in the way! I drive my Jeep like I stole it and I run no sway bars. It leans a bit in a hard turn but that is it. And yes I have made evasive manuvers in my Junk with no swaybars........ no problem!

Re: The Colorado BS thread

that means you were prolly driving out of your or your rigs capabilities and its your own fault :gag:

sway bars = ABS = :puke:

Hey now! My father and I both, have never totalled a jeep, rolled, or even been in an accident that wasn't our fault. Evasive maneuvers are in fact aided by sway bars. It keeps the body more level and stiffer to the ground.

Better to be safe than sorry.

Also Mike, Im guessing you were one of the kids to cool for a helmet too? Huh:looser:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

actually i always wear a helmet riding.

ive totalled a few rigs, and a sway bar was on the one that smacked into the pole, good thing it was on there to help out so much huh???

you are all of what 12? when ya grow up, start liking girls, and actually have some miles under your belt come talk.....

id rather not have swaybars and learn how to drive the rig, than assume im safe cuz of those pieces of chit

Uh...... maybe adjust your disconnects? If the end of the sway bar is close to the coil, you need to lengthen the disconnect so that the angle of the sway bar is higher - where it should be.

If you wanna spend more of your hard earned lawn mowing money...... I have some adj. discos available........

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Is your axle set a little forward then? Sway bar clearance shouldn't "normally" be an issue.

I'd imagine making a pair of brackets wouldn't be too hard. Whatever you come up with would likely lower the sway bar a bit but not by much.

Still have access to some 1/4" or thicker plate? Maybe make a couple of rectangle pieces just a bit larger than the sway bar bushing brackets. Weld those onto the frame a little forward of the original mounting location. Prior to welding them in, drill and tap new mounting holes for the bushing brackets in the plate.

I would think that if the axle end is moved foward, you would need to relocate the sway bar frame mounts as well. I believe the links are supposed to be vertical. At that point, the Currie Antirock might be best. It lets you adjust where the links go.

Spendy though...

No he's not 12. But you are a jerk.
Oh that's right I forgot, you're the Obiwan of 4 wheeling.
Sorry master, I was out of line.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

never said i was some obiwan of wheeling. but since everyone seems to toss that title out there i might as well hold up to it right!

ill drive my piece of shit ugly ass non sway bar'd mtr running crappy weld on beadlocks short arm lifted rig anywhere. anyone that wants to come, please do.

i was poking fun at sway bars. for the amount of aftermarket and weight added to that jeep of his, that dinky ass stock sway bar doesnt help as much as anyone might think. a better anti sway system would serve better.

then everyone wanted to pull out the bullshit and think i was being a dick.

heaven forbid we poke some fun around here.

ya'll can g- f-ck y--rs-lfs for all i care.

..!..:gonnablow..!..

I have to say that was a little harsh! I remember when you were new to the hardcore scene and that was just a few years ago. Not everyone wheels the same or even has the same ambitions. There are mixed feelings here when it come to things like swaybars, fluids ect. Lets keep things civil and enjoy our hobby as we each see fit with the friends we have here. :lecture:

Easy Killer, no need to get all bent! It is how you said what you said.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

see this si what people still dont get

I DONT THINK EVERYONE NEEDS TO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF THEIR RIGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

should i repost it everyday to get the point across

i wheel the absolute shit out of my rigs. ive been on a really hard learning curve and am still learning every day. no shit ive wrecked some rigs. push too hard and ya dick things up sometimes.

what makes no sense is someone who doesnt have the same desires or goals for wheeling to question the damage i cause. run the same shit and tell me what happens. Thing truggy has an exo for shits n grins? no, Led was smart enough to protect what he built BEFORE destroying it.

He just got his license. how much experience does he actually have.

you mean to tell me that damn sway bar woulda ever helped you in a situation ira? the stock sway bar, is really worth a shit for a rig with hundreds of extra pounds over it, larger tires, etc? if thats the case. WTF would they even bother makeing better aftermarket stuff?

it was a simple poke at sway bars, just like you poke at fluids. (or in this case sway bars as well)

but no one comes after you. people have a probelm with me. so XXXX them.

read the sig, put up or STFU!

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Good gawd........not ANOTHER sway bar debate....

Primary motivation to keeping sway bars connected and working: Insurance/liability. Don't forget, if you get into an injury accident - regardless if you're the one injured or someone else, the accident investigation generally involves a vehicle inspection to document if all items of equipment were present and working. A lifted rig already is at a disadvantage since they technically violate Traffic Code/Statutes of "Altered Suspension".....

Calling a sway bar a useless piece of the vehicle is pretty irresponsible. Telling someone they shouldn't run one is irresponsible as well. You can think you've learned how to drive and all that...... but no single driver is good enough at driving to anticipate and/or respond to the poor driving of the others around them.

Every vehicle owner/operator needs to make these decisions on their own, not at the suggestion of someone else.

As far as Mike being the "Obiwan of 4 wheeling" I know he won't claim that, but yeah, he can come off that way with posts like the one we're discussing........

All I gotta say is if we're looking for criteria on how to tell if someone is a master off-road driver....... I'd lean toward a guy that's daily driven and wheeled the same rig for well over 10 years, never rolled it, flopped it once, and keeps it THIS nice all while running the absolute toughest trails across the U.S. ....... AND makes a magazine cover..... THAT is what I'd consider pretty damn close to an Obiwan of 4 wheeling.

Oh yeah, and.......... John still runs a sway bar......... :D
