Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Back in the USA.

Repairing drywall and going to try to re-install my SYE on a new (to me) t-case. I've got LOTS of work to do.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I don't know. I'm looking for a more permanent solution that will keep me here. There is an offer on the table to move to Houston, or South LA, but I really don't want to move there. I've got a few prospects that involve a lot of travel, but I'd be home a lot more often than once every 3 months.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Kiefer,

am I seeing two lights near the back of your roof or is that just an illusion?

If they are lights, why do you have em' mounted so far back?

its just an illusion!
its probably a business sign of some sort!
or parking lot lights, looking at the shadows...

Re: The Colorado BS thread

It's been 2 years. I rebuilt the t-case today, installed it, fired her up and drove down the road.

The DW didn't go away while she rested. I guess tomorrow I'll hook up the welding machine and weld up my steering brace. I hope that helps.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

If welding on rear frame stiffeners, should you worry about burning something like carpet or another part of the interior or something on the other side of the uni body rail?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

depends how hot you are burning it in. but possibly.

who still has rear carpet in a weelin jeep? :dunno: :D

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I figure a 3 inch stitch every 3~4 inches shouldn't be too hot. And for the carpet...

Keep a squirt bottle handy. Soon as you finish a bead, quench the area with water.

Being that close to the gas tank would make me nervous. Might be a good idea to have someone on fire watch.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Sitting at wal-mart in canon. The brand new 35" mtrs didn't make it home. The tread separated on one. I've got some roller spares coming from home.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

No it wasn't a complete tread separation. Probably the coolest flat ever. Drove from the Springs to Canon. We stopped just outside canon to let the dog pee, then drove on in to canon. No issues. We hit canon and stopped at the red light in front of the Chevy dealership and Burger King in the turning lane. When the light turned green we tried to go but it was very sluggish and there was no steering. We made it to the BK parking lot and it was dead flat, rim on the ground. I fired up the compressor and aired the tire back up. It had a soft spot on the back side in between the shoulder lugs that had ballooned out and burst, but would only leaks quickly when it is in contact with the ground. Its an obvious defect, there are threads visible in the surrounding area.
