Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

thought it was the plug/bolt at back under map on the block?

This ^^^

The sensor Kastein may be seeing on a Renix is the knock sensor. Coolant temp sensors are found at the back of the cylinder head on the intake manifold side. The other sensor for temps would be the one found in the t-stat housing which is for the fan circuit.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Hey! im not retarded!
ya the temp sensor works well, and reads relatively accurate.
ill be swapping out the map this week and maybe tps? ( :dunno: )
just gonna start going thro and trying to figure it out. as much as i beat on the jeep i need to treat 'er right too

Not the RENIX.

The sender in the head is for the temp gauge only.

The fan's thermal switch is in the driver's side radiator tank. I think OBDI fan switches are in the water neck, but the RENIX has nothing in the water neck.

The RENIX knock sensor is just above the oil pan, on the driver's side of the block.

The RENIX CTS is in the water jacket, just forward of the engine mount bracket. Instead of a drain plug, they screw in the sender. If you look to the rear of the engine mount bracket, you will see the (other) drain plug in line with the CTS, at the bottom of the water jacket.

Do you have the RENIX manual? You don't have to beat yourself up and spend tons of $$$ to learn this.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

well considering a lot of these sensors were never replaced by the PO i want to gradually go through them anyway.
no i dont have a manual. i have Led and Troys numbers, what do i need the book for?! :D

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I dunno you should probably lose my number, apparently my Renix nawlidge is all fawked up..... :looney:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

lol but i need an MJ!!! hahahaha

i found a good article that blatantly points out my misunderstanding. ill check that sensor post move.

thanks

Re: The Colorado BS thread

LMAO!!! So you can tell them something now and again.

I have it on PDF, but we're not 'posed to post it on naxja. I need an email to send it.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

So Heather made my day the other day. Said pre-school this fall, she wants to sell her Xterra to ditch the payment, and get a clean xj to DD. mild lift on 31/32's. no wheeling it (LAME) but something that looks good for an XJ and get her where she needs to be (if CO-which is looking more likely-snowboarding a lot)
makes my heart all warm and fuzzy :D

Re: The Colorado BS thread

hahaha me too :D
i wont really start poking my nose around til i know for sure what the deal is and see when she wants to ditch the nissan for a jeep. (hope sooner than later, i hate touching that thing)

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Sometime in the Fall huh?

I should have a blue '98 Sport with 2" lift, new 235 BFG AT's/soft 8's..... or a green '98 SE with super nice tan interior with new 235's and graphite Eccos available about that time...... :shhh:

In a couple weeks, I'll have a nicely built white '98 Sport on 3"/31's/soft 8's/locker/full skids/sliders/discos/Magnaflo cat back........
