Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Ran eagle rock with some yotas last night. Surprised how clear the trail was. Autos with gears and lockers was sex. But my overwhelming distaste for these darn bfg a/t's grew exponentially last night. Still had a good time tho. Need to get my steering on tho as I was scared the whole night if the stock junk.

But any of ya wanting to run ER, it's still doable. Altho it's completely different from 7 months ago

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I hate replacing ball joints, that is all.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

This actually wouldn't make for a bad winter. Tons of snow up high, relatively warm down here. I was actually supposed to be on day 3 of a sledding/ cabin trip right now but getting sick on turkey day took care of that.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Note to self NEVER buy moog ball joints!

Yes, I concur, the moog's for twice the cost did not fit correctly. To seat the upper ball joint correctly in the knuckle, the shaft stuck way to far down.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Got pictures? What brand did you install?

Please explain.

This! The master pro's fit much better then the moogs. Not sure why! There was a slight gap between the knuckle and the upper balljoint when the lower was fully seated.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Sooooooooooo, the upper joint was fully seated and the stud was too long, ORRRRRRRRR, the body of the ball joint did not fully seat in the knuckle?

I'm still not getting the picture.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Upper joint was fully seated in the C, With the lower tightened all the way there was a good 1/4 inch gap between the boot of the upper balljoint and the knuckle.

OK.

If you were to tighten the upper first, would the outter knuckle pull up to the boot, or would the taper stop the knuckle from going any further?

I'm trying to figure out what was so different on the set you bought.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

It was the taper and the overall length of the shaft. Tightening the nut down caused the nut to be about an 1/8 inch too far screwed on for the carter pin to function correctly and there was still about an 1/8 inch to the grease boot.

Re: The Colorado BS thread
