Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

And I don't think any less of people that are hard core professional sports fans, it's your thing, and your choice, that's the great thing about America, we have choices.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

i just think that they should have to play without fouls like unnecessary roughness.... its football, they get paid millions of dollars.

unnecessary roughness- understandable for high school football.

millions of dollars in the NFL should make it worth it to have a hard core game of football!

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Whatever man.

Just because you think its a waste if time doesn't mean it is for those of us who do enjoy watching pro sports.

Don't get all but hurt!! I was just poking fun at you and stating my personal choice at the same time...

My fun poking still stands though...... Who the hell are the Titans... :D

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Nope not anymore! Can't say I never did, I used to be a huge Bronco fan but find no interest in that now. My time and money is better spent elsewhere!
Me too If you have time to watch football then you should be wrenchin on the heep:D

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Only real beer, not that piss yellow crap that is advertized.

No clothing?

Not any more, can't think of any in a long time.

I cook my own food most of the time. When I do go out and eat, it is nothing endorced.

No footware?

I wear boots most of the time and everything else I wear is not endorced.

No vacations?

I see no relation here...... but maybe that is because I have not cared about sports for some time.

Hmmmmmm............ no, I buy used. Failing to see the relationship here as well....

No products or services of any kind?

None that intentionally support big egos in the sports world.

Sorry if I fail to see the coolness sports today..... my bad......

Think about that for a minute or two. If you were a team owner would it make sense for you to cast your vote in such a manner that your company could be negatively affected by severe bodily injury to your employees? it's already a physically demanding sport with risk of severe injury and long lasting consequences just from playing.

Don't get all but hurt!! I was just poking fun at you and stating my personal choice at the same time...

That would be BUTT hurt.....and I'm not. Simply poking back.

Any product advertised during an NFL game pays the wages of the players. Therefore you (the consumer), by purchasing any* product ever advertised, are paying the wages and salaries of the those in the game...what ever game it may be.

The owners don't pay a cent out of their own pockets, you do. it's no different than any other commodity, the end user pays for it. Every cost associated with every business on the planet is passed on to the end user.

* since you don't watch football, I'll 'splain the vacation aspect.

Drew Breeze....You you just won the Super Bowl!! Now what are you going to do?
"I'm going to DisneyWorld!!"

"Texas...it's like a whole other country"

"South Dakota, Where Dances with Wolves was filmed."

"The ClubMed vacation, the antidote for civilization."

Ego's...damn right in a lot of cases. Justified? Since I'm a fan and understand the rare gift that these athletes poses...why not? Ever dealt with an egotistical insert profession here?

A highly skilled surgeon can be as arrogant/egotistical as he wants as long as he's getting the job done.

A highly skilled carpenter can be as arrogant/egotistical as he wants as long as he's getting the job done.

A highly skilled prison guard can be as arrogant/egotistical as he wants as long as he's getting the job done.

A highly skilled HVAC Tech can be as arrogant/egotistical as he wants as long as he's getting the job done.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

thanks for leaving me and my ilk out of your arrogance discussion -- I'm sure I don't know any arrogant lawyers. ;)

agreed to a point, but i think they would bring alot more viewers if they made it more extreme....
if i were getting paid millions, i would play football with a helmet and a cup.
for the millions they get paid, they should play the game more intensely!
they may as well be playing flag foot ball...
i just dont like all the fouls...

its a contact sport.... with limited contact....
i dont watch it very often.
if it became a full contact sport, then i would watch more often.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

ya wanna watch a good sport, watch some rugby, those crazy bastards know how to hit each other and not cry like little girls...

NFL players get paid millions to:
step out of bounds instead of getting hit
slide on the ground instead of running into the defense
walk on and off the field, no sense of urgency to get to the huddle or to the play....

i see better effort and enthusiasm at high school games, and college for sure....

werd. Although I remain a life-long donkey fan and actually have the deluded belief that they'll give Jeff's titans a game this weekend.

Lots of data that shows that helmets/equipment actually cause more injuries than they prevent, due to the feeling of invincibility they inspire in football players, and their use as weapons in the modern game. Rugby/Aussie Rules/Irish Rulse footballers play a much more violent game, but have fewer broken bones, fewer destroyed joints, and much fewer head injuries, despite the fact that they play with just cleats and a cup.:yelclap:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Kronik, want more extreme football? Go watch a rugby game.

I stick with college football. They're all trying to do their best to make it to the NFL, while the NFL players are playing for a paycheck.

I simply don't understand that attitude -- that somehow people are more motivated by "advancement" (i.e. to make it to the NFL) than they are by "pay"? It seems to come from a mentality that profit is evil, or that those who do things for money are somehow worthless greedy turds... I don't know about you, but I go to work everyday -- and do the absolute best job of which I am capable -- because I get paid! As much as I like what I do, there are lots of things I would rather do with my time if money wasn't required to keep the lights on and the rugrats fed -- If work were fun they'd call it fishing, or so they say.

Are there lazy slugs in the NFL, sure, but most and likely damn near all (Albert Haynesworth notwithstanding) bust their asses and risk their future health for the substantial pay they get, and they leave it all on the field, every bit as much as the college "amateurs" with a dream.

The profit motive, the free market in which it thrives, and the creativity and drive which comes out of it is responsible for the industrial revolution, the American experiment, and the freedom, liberty and prosperity which accompany it. If only more people were willing, in America in this day and age, to "do it for a paycheck", we'd all be a hell of alot more free, happy and prosperous.

The college players need to play at their best to make it to the NFL. The guys already there, they get paid regardless of if they have a bad streak or if people like them... as long as they have a good game every so often, enough to stay on the team, they're gold.
A guy working really hard for a big promotion is... well, gonna work really hard for it, while the guy that already has the company car and the nice corner office with the view can afford to slack off now and then.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I can tell you for certain, based on guys I have actually met, that those in the NFL that don't give their all end up selling cars or insurance in short order. period. because there is always someone willing to work harder to take what's yours if you slack off. Its no different in any profession, at least those without super union protection -- the workers get promotions and profit, the slackers get pink slips.

i would agree...i love college ball....and detest maybe loath pro football
