Safe huh........ that right there is a false scense of security!! If someone really wanted to ruin your outing, you would not hear them coming!! Nice 30/30 though :D

Befuddled by bearings, AAARRRRRGGGHGHHH!!!!

I popped all the bearing caps on my junkyard engine. At 160K the bearings are worn, the yoke side of the rod bearings are showing copper. Although being far from "perfect," the journals mic out at the high end of the published specs with a servicable finish. You would think I had it made in the shade.

All the bearing shells appear to be OE. The rod bearings are all "standard," 5 of 7 main caps have a (select fit) .001" undersize. I've searched the web pages of my local parts houses and can't find the bearings I need. :explosion

I was hoping to install the engine this weekend.

Your probably right, I wouldn't hear them coming, that's what my dog is for. Thanks for the compliment, but its a 45-70 :D

Holy crap is my rig quiet! makes me wonder how long that center pin has been flopping around... could explain the chewed u-joint a couple weeks ago as well, given the axle movement out of plane that was possible. I ended up having to run a bead on the leaf perch where the loose center pin wallowed out, but it sure is nice to loose the box o bolts sensation!:woohoo:

Well that thuckth!!!

I attended a beautiful outdoor wedding today. Afterward there wath a cookout with amazing food. Juth ath I wath eating, a bee flew into my thoda. It got the tip of my tounge bofore I could thpit it out. No corn on the cob for me...fooker!​

I'm home now, have a couple Benadryl in my thythem. My tongue ith thwollen down one thide, my throat, neck and ear hurt. Good thing I'm not allergic to them.​

I really need to get a new radiator. Heep doesn't like highspeed and high ambient temps. First long-ish highway drive from here to Troy's and back was toasty....very, very toasty.

If you'll excuse me I'm thinking it's time to go kick my neighbor in the yarbles for letting his yappy mutts out already.

So off to the parts house I go to get a warranty replacement dizzy for Daniel's heep.....they not gotz wun!!

Sumahnahbiatch! Coulda slept in an hour....

BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Silly me assumes that a parts house will actually have PARTS!!!!!!!

So now I have to wait....untill 10:45AM! I'm gonna massacre someone over this crap...


So how's my rant workin' for you boyz-n-girlz thiz morning?

Murphy's law Frank, "when you really need the part they do not have it immediately available." Count your lucky stars it is not on back-order..........I had to go to two parts stores to get wheel bearing assemblies, the idiot behind the counter told me that is all they are scheduled to have on hand? Product logistics people. STUUUUUPID.

got the moulding glue peeled off and then painted to cover all the paint that came with it...
debating on doing the flares black as well or not...
