Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yikes!

Water in diff = bad!

Make sure your gears and bearings are not rusted.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

ya i popped cover everything looked good, was just in there for one night, so not too terrible of issues, just blew the seal is all

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yeah, Ballistic Fab or something like those joints is what I wanna do for all the joints on the links...... but that's gonna be a $600-$700 investment.

Eh... ya get what you pay for. HCP4x4 has Ballistic joints for like $50ish a pop.

Glad ya got it figured out

:soapbox:
So this guy calls me about my truck a few days ago, and we talk over the past couple days and he's really enthusiastic about it, wants to drive 4 hours to come see it and says he's almost certain he'll buy it. Guy said that he used to be a mechanic and that his DD is a 99 CTD with a manual trans, so he knows diesels and can drive stick.
Now, over the phone I told him that the truck wasn't absolutely perfect, and that it does need a couple new GPs... no big deal, just a couple plugs, but the first start of the day (when it's cold) is a little rough, i.e. you need to crank it a little longer than normal.
Guy got here today and looked over the truck inside and out, made a huge deal about there being a little bend in the pinch seam where a step used to be mounted. I told him if it was really that big of a deal that I can bend it back for him (a little kick with my steel toe boot would do the trick ).
I didn't warm up the engine before hand so he could see what a cold start was like and all, and explained this to him. Well, he made a huge deal over the cranking thing (diesels don't like to start cold as they run off pressure and heat, not spark, so they have little electric stove things called glow plugs to heat up the fuel and cyls on a cold start).
Then we went for a test drive. First thing he said as we sat in it running is that it shakes a lot, and therefore it must have a bad injector. I told him 7.3s are big engines and they shake a bit more than the little Legacy he pulled up in, and that the V8 in my truck shakes back and forth (as opposed to up and down like the I6 in his CTD) so it'll feel different, and that if it were a bad injector it would be running rough and throwing a code since the fuel delivery is computer controlled. But he insisted it was an injector. Then we took off through the neighborhood... stalled right away. Guy kept complaining that 1st gear didn't have enough power.... which was probably cause he was coming out of stops in 3rd gear. Then we took it on the highway, and it accelerated and ran fine... although he insisted there was bad driveline vibes (even after I told him the tires were balanced about a month ago when I had to replace a blow out). He also was certain that the PS pump was about to go out, so we checked the fluid and it was a little low, topped it off, and that was that. But no, apparently if the fluid's 1/2 cm lower than the fill line it means the pump is about to spontaneously combust or something... so that's something that would need replacement and thus be deducted from the purchase price. He also noticed weld marks on the very back of the frame from a hitch, made a huge deal out of that saying that "I dunno why those weld marks are there, that's just fawkin weird, I don't like that at all."
So he kept pullin shit like that and eventually I asked what he was thinking he wanted to offer. Book on my truck is $10,500 in Good shape and $9,700 in Fair shape... mine would fall under good, and I have it listed at $10k, which I think is a fair price. Well, he first offered $7500. I laughed and told him hell no, so he damn near threw a fit saying "it needs at least $2k worth of work." So I tallied it all up for him... IF it needs a new injector, it would only need one cause it's unnoticeable, and that'd be $80-100. New PS pump if it needed it would be maybe $150. Little things here and there brought the total of supposed work needed to about $300. No response from him. So I brought him inside and showed him the KBB page for it, and told him I paid $9500 and that I couldn't go lower than $9k. He offered "8 grand and not one fawkin cent more," and I said sorry thanks anyway and have a safe drive home. He then threw another fit about how much this trip already cost him because he got a $170 ticket coming here and all of that crap like it's my fault or like I give a damn.

People piss me off :flamemad:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

welcome to selling cars, i deal with this shit everyday at work, people are stupid, and most people that really look over something and point out every little thing never had the money in the first place.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yeah I know, I've sold one or two cars before lol.
I just figured this guy wouldn't be such a jackass cause of how enthusiastic he was about it on the phone.

You shoulda told him you were the proud owner of a $10,000 truck, and that someday he'll be the owner of a $7000 truck, just not today. :rattle:

This is only about 1/4 of all the spent rounds... probably less. The rest ended up in trash bags. We went through $400-500 easy, between this many guns (and a Springfield XD that isn't pictured)...

...and this many types of ammunition...

Re: The Colorado BS thread

ok cool man will do. we normally have a ton of weapons and ammo to shoot so you can try out some full auto stuff and some vintage stuff also. We have a 1940's tommy gun with a drum magazine and a WW2 BAR and some other goodies.
