Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

The rock slab at the start of the trail was the only obstacle in heavy rain I have not made in heavy rain . I almost made it but could not carry enough momentum or traction to crest the last couple feet...this was on 40 inch modified boggers , so I'm hoping with the same aggressive approach the new rubber will give just enough grip to crest it .

Should be fine. We all walked up left middle and right lines in the rain. I'll blame your not making purely on tire.

Eh...you'll have show me the video so I can see the line you took in heavy rain and walked it ...cause none of us did in the down pour with mud bog bottom I came close but also came close to rolling it every fail .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I'll see if I can dig up the pics off photobucket. Or maybe David has em?
We weren't in a torrential downpour. But it was definitely not dry. Was at night to boot. David tried getting me to roll it on the tight left turn too :roflmao:
What a ridiculous night. Wasn't Kiefer with me?!

Rain no biggie...the current rains that flash flood are what got our group in 2012...I tried about 30 times almost rolled every ...my buddy thought his new 42 iroks were Gold ...lol...he laid it over first stab at it then saud it my fault because I got the rocks muddy...lol

I'm looking to see if in same conditions I can take that obstacle with the better rubber and 12 extra inches of wheel base .

I think so. If I remember correctly, you were in your xj with no rear hatch. That thing couldn't be stopped, except by high temps. Lol

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Hahahahaha. So truuueeeee. That's right because we got stopped by the cops on the way up for busted tail lights.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Last bit of cash I plan to put into the full body xj will be ORI struts this winter then wheel it next year and start thinking about something about 1500lbs lighter made of tube with a v8...not made from an xj carcass .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I need more pics of your carcasses jeep on the trail. Social media loves it. K. Thanks.

And no shitty Flores type pictures. Like decent ones.

The Colorado BS thread

The absolute worst part of working on a Jeep (or anything) is getting the damn serpentine belt back on!

Water pump, thermostat, fan clutch all good. Belt - forget it! HAHA.

You've never worked on a stretch fit belt. :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

No no no. Getting the steering box swapped and lined back up with the gyro lines plugged in already. Worst. Thing. Ever.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Piece of cake compared to changing the CPS when you have sever RA Arthritis, or the notorious head light switches both located in nearly unreachable locations, they have to be changed while blind folded....Serp belt is childs play.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Be running Holy Cross this Sunday the 6th . trail head time will be about 10am . Looks like Danny and I will be trailering our Jeeps out Saturday night around 9pm and camp at the trail the rest of the group will be driving in Sunday morning . Not sure what minimum vehicle requirements will be I think a couple in the group have 33s and no lockers , but most of the group are locked . Anyone wanting to run HC then feel free to show up .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

True story-walk into FN Jeep in Springs today looking to get rid of some stuff from my wrecked '96, walk out with a job. Owner didn't even look at my resume, just saw my dirty hands and clothes. Apparently, he let one guy go recently and another just up and quit, so it was him and one other guy working the place all day. Speaking of which, if anybody needs parts, shoot me a PM. The parts are in Colorado Springs for the time being. The Little Green Mountain Goat (RIP :'( ) was a '96 Sport 4-door, 4.0, 5-speed, 4x4, green with gray interior.

Congrats. Hope it works out for you.

I had a bad experience there the one and only time I went.
