Between a rock and hard place it seems.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

What you guys need is a rock crusher and bulldozer LOL. :laugh3:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Welp I'm happy with the beefed up stock Ford knuckles I made they held up to a full day of rocks and were tested in flight...lol...got to the trail head realized I only had 1/4 tank so drove over to the gas station which the jeep was shifting funny , which later turned out to be a wire to the trans output sensor . Due to the funny shift I put it hi and wanted to see how it ran ...lol...and on the access road In to the rail head hit 60mph...went air borne over the burms the landings bent my rear upper spring reatiner tube , but knuckles and Jeep were sweet and for a rig only built for 5mph it did well holding up to extreme stupidity . The only reason it bent the tube was the bump pad inserted in my prothane was at an angle when welded which.at 5mph was fine but not 60, so will cut the bent stuff off beef it up an make it flat...just in case stupidity takes hold again..

Have to edit that determination above since both rear bump tower tubes appear to be folding just at the tube I conclude that the ultra ultra cheap grade of tube used on these prefab buckets are not up the task ...lol...when I cut the first set of these up before installing the new ones the tube had a seam about a 16th tall even the HREW tube I get has no seam like this ...lol...I do have some cheap scrap pipe that looks exactly like it ...not real cool at $205 shipped you would think at that price for a simple piece if plate bent into an s with a short piece of tube welded to it that it would be all top shelf material ...for comparison the front bump towers are not braced under hood yet , but the tube has been replaced wit.2 inch .500 wall sleeved with cheap rigid conduit and the jump did not bend those...lol...anywho I have a stick of 2.5 .250 wall sitting for future drive shafts that I will steal a couple feet of to make better ones , but I don't see me jumping again, but you never know .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Poo pipe...HREW...DOM...cro-moly....I never use less than HREW , but the prefab rear spring buckets are made of fine...POO-PIPE and are bending and the 2 inch DOM fronts I made are not...lol...1-7/8th poop pipe for $205 shipped....lol...I knew that was poop pipe when I cut the tube out of the old ones ...Poop pipe lacks the tensile strength to be used there since it can't be braced .

I will say this on some of the materials from the manufacturer...they SUCK..their prices reflect top shelf materials not sch 40 poop pipe ...lol...wow

Re: The Colorado BS thread

They didn't get it out and that's the first rig, the second rig is further up the trail. That's insane stuff. If you read through the thread there was a H1 that got stuck like that and had to be left up there until June. Ouch.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Man what a run today. Left Gillette about 11 am headed to wheat ridge to pick up a cool pop up trailer. Stopped by Dutch's and grabbed the D/S, then on to Cheyenne to pick up the 8.25 e brake parts. While we were talking the guy started loading extra XJ parts in my Subaru. Got a set of 3" front coils and rotors loaded before I could stop him.The Subaru was not happy dragging all that home. Got home about 1AM this morning.I am getting too old for this kind of stuff !

You should have stopped by on your way through. Did you ever get that tcase installed?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

T case is still on spare parts shelf in garage.Replaced front drivers side axle u joint. (that is the knock i heard ) Still going to swap out the t case as the one in it has 305,000 miles on it. Can do it at my convenience now. One more stop and one more part and the subie would have laid down and quit on me. Only stopped for fuel , eating and parts pick up.Maybe next time I can stop and visit.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

So I need a new muffler. The bigger downpipe has made it border line deafening. Ive got a small dynomax bullet muffler on it, but I'm looking into a magnaflow straight thru muffler. Anyone run that one? How's it sound? I'm kinda limited to that or flow master because I need center in/out. Don't mind hearing it run but my god its so loud right now...
