Re: The Colorado BS thread

Thats a bummer about your Neck Yella had a similar problem in 78, while in the Navy Had to have a fusion and wore a shoulder harness tor 3 months with my noggin c clamped to it

Re: The Colorado BS thread

That's where the job is located, so we're relocating to there. It's really that bad, huh? I'm originally from downtown Chicago, and it was OK.. Had some issues, but I could have avoided them. Maybe the XJ will only come out when going to and from the trails and I'll keep an eye on it when getting gas. It's bed lined, so key scratches shouldn't be too much of a worry heh.

I'm in Knoxville TN as of right now, so I guess I'm in for yet another culture shock.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Would that be just a Boulder thing because they don't like lifted/trucks or because it's an XJ? If it passes emissions, it's getting driven quite a bit! haha

No one will like my bumper sticker then I take it..

I'm a fan of the "This is an alternative fuel vehicle. It is powered by the tears of 1,000 hippies" one myself. :)

Oh, and if you have to work in Boulder but want to avoid the cost and hassle, go live in Louisville or Longmont. Short drives but avoid living in the weed-colored bubble.

Haha. I'm not planning on removing it, so I hope I don't get keyed lol.

I'm moving with my folks right now until I get established then I'll venture off somewhere in the area or so, and the job requires my father to be in Boulder, so kind of stuck. I just hope with the whole legalization that they've become more mellow and less annoying with their vandalism. I don't want to have to hide the Jeep until I want to take it out!

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Just do a walk-around, make sure the lug nuts are still tight.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Ya it can be that bad. I'm in longmont and its relatively chill here. Although prices are going up and an up.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Well I'll be in an apartment building, but I may have the XJ in the storage unit with some other crap and just take it out to go wheeling since I'm pretty sure we're only allowed a certain amount of spots, and I already have a ZJ as my DD. I'm already planning on walking and maybe even getting a bicycle for work, since after living in Chicago, I'm tired of commuting to work lol.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Bicycle will fit you in perfectly in Boulder. Faster and you have right away over just about anything else.
That is 100% serious btw

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I read that the bike paths on the road get plowed first when it snows. That's what made me consider it. I would never even think about biking in Chicago. Maybe I'll do it there.

Do you guys go out wheeling often? I don't know what I'll be doing yet in terms of work, but will want to go out as much as possible obviously.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Bicycles are king in the republic of Boulder. No bullshit. And traffic around campus in a vehicle blows due to very lax rules for bikes.

Good to know.. Thinking I may invest in a shitty bike then. If the bike theft is anything like Chicago, I'll just buy something of CL and be done with it.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Dont let these guys scare you, its not like there are groups of hippies roaming the streets looking for Jeeps to key.

Its a large city, with a wide mix of people. Everything from Deadheads to mountain men to Trustafarians all mix to create the clusterf*ck thats Boulder.

I do actual like to visit boulder and ride through it fairly often in the summer. Nice to visit, cant say I would live there, but I would live there over Chicago every single day of the week.

(Take my input with a grain of salt, I live downtown Denver, so Boulder is a walk in the park comparatively!)

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Ya what the heck kind of boulder are you guys talking about?!

My brother lives there, and I'm up there often. Its awesome. Huge jeeping and adventuring type community.

Always get compliments on my MJ up there.

Perhaps it's the naked kind of Boulder? Ya know the naked bike rides, the naked pumpkin on your head run events...... THAT kind of Boulder....

Haha, thanks guys. That's real good to know. I'm even more excited to drive the XJ around now. I'm already in a Colorado Facebook group, hoping to meet some guys in person once I'm there and get into a group to go out often.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Boulder Colorado brings back a painfull immage that is hard to erase from my mind...The Year was 1996 I had just came into colorado and before moving into a place I stayed at Hotel in Boulder ,and while stopped at a traffic light some Dude in Bright Neon Orange spandex bike shorts and mesh tank top is standing with his bike on the curb next to my drivers door looking like he was smuggling a rolled up pair XXX large tube socks ...lol...the guy was only about 3ft from my window and the "package" of tube socks was pretty much dead even with my line of vision ...That is forever what I evision when somone mentions "Boulder Colorado" .

Oh good. I don't have to worry about vandalism but rather guys in tight, revealing spandex shorts. Lovely.
