Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I would love to visit Washington. One of the few places I haven't been to. :D

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Does anyone know a place (preferably in Colorado Springs) that does repairs to leather jackets? I need a new zipper in the sleeve/cuff of one along with a few more things that I'd like to see if they can be fixed. Shtanks.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Thank you but I was hoping that someone might know of a particular place where they are known for doing good work instead of just a shot in the dark.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Facing my first interview board with the military tomorrow. Wish me luck, nervous as hell since this will let me secure the path I want for my career with the guard and state.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I have a welding question. In this picture you will see a triangular shaped stamped steel piece coming off the frame. There is one of these on each side and it's where the stock exhaust mounts as well as the passenger pegs. I have a new exhaust being made right now and these mounts will no longer be used. I do plan on using passenger pegs but I'd like to have this mount be a bit more subtle. I could use flat steel and do a butt weld on the back of the frame and kind of mimic the stock mount but smaller or I could use tube and notch it so that it wraps around the frame a bit. I'll use smaller modern sport bike pegs. I'd like to hear thoughts on what mounting system to use and why please. Thanks.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Coped piece of tube would be the strongest because of the obvious physics and properties of a round tube welded around another being stronger on more than just one plain opposed to a slice of flat stock.

Agreed. Although you could use 2 pieces of flat tube like tabs on either side of the frame and then use a small piece of tubing to connect them at the bolt hole for the peg. This would allow you to keep the factory shape a bit and make them strong enough for your passenger to stand on them while you take the bike over some sweet jumps.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Ummm this bike is not going off any sweet jumps. Ok so the tube I will use will be whatever diameter the frame is that it's going to connect to. I'm going to try to use a drill press and a hole saw to make the notches. Then I'll hope I can drill holes for the pegs and have it all come out like it is in my head.

I had to take off the center stand as the new exhaust will not allow it. I hardly ever use the kickstand because it seems like it's too small. Any issues with cutting the kickstand and then sleeving it to make it 3/4" longer. My life story...I just need another 3/4".

Re: The Colorado BS thread

My new sleep system showed up today. It's a Big Agnes Park Series bag rated for 20deg. It has a sleeve in the back to hold the air pad and then another for a pillow. I went with an insulated Q-Core pad that is rated for 15deg and their Q-Core inflatable pillow too. I also added a fleece sleeping bag liner that brings the entire thing down to 0-5deg of rating.

Best of all, and the main reason I got it all, is that it packs down really small. Here is everything packed up compared to just my old sleeping bag.

This will save a lot of room in the Jeep, and that's always a good thing.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I just remembered that hanksville hot rods is right up the street from my work so I'll try them on my lunch break. I've been to k&k before, if the hot rod shop doesn't have anything I'll call them and see if they're open. If neither of those pan out I'll be calling you mike . I wanna start on making a front bumper for my truck this weekend.
