Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

And as a corollary, Duratracs absolutely suck in deep snow.

my experience is the opposite -- my duratracs climb my driveway in drifts just fine, far better than the MTRs they replaced...

Well, after winching for an hour while snowbashing with a group that all else powered through, I'm a little weary of them. Don't get me wrong, I love them otherwise.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

what size? on your XJ? I'm running 285/70 r17s on the WJ, and the voids appear larger in mine than in some others....

Really? my sisters rig is on 33's and they were awesome the other week when we went looking for some good snow.
What psi did you run?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Hey guys, I posted up sum issues im having in the street and performance thread. This EGR crap is giving me the blues! If u get a few minutes cruz over and take a look and tell me what ya think. Im trying to make this EGR delete work but dont know if its possible (ECM wise)

Re: The Colorado BS thread

How were you stuck? like couldnt get enough grab to go? or buried in snow? or sliding too much? Locked at all?
I had hers @ 10psi and it was a cake walk through anything I put it on. was only in roughly 12-14" of snow though. :dunno:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Mike -- being an ex-tire guy, are you aware of any variance in the voids/tread patterns on Duratracs between sizes? I remember haveing a discussion about that with Nick when he was at Big O about the x/t tires, in that the 33" 16 equivelants had smaller voids than the 33" 17 equivelants... Like I mentioned above, I had the Duratrac 285/70r16s on the XJ, and I am almost certain that the 285/70r17's on the WJ have larger voids :dunno:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Ya, the size does dictate.
It isnt so much bigger size bigger lugs and voids, but not all the sizes are the same. some are DRASTICALLY different.
Example:
g-pa has em in a 235 flavor on his blazer, the biggest lugs he has fit in the moderate voids on the sisters 33's.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

just wondering if that might be the difference in experiences here -- I mean I've run up my driveway, and you've seen my driveway, with 9" of snow, and the WJ is open-open without even seemingly slipping a tire... :dunno:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I think you have the really wide voids around the center tread on your size. The 33's are a little bit different, but not much tighter. I think It might have come down to how much gear was in the back on his rig, where the weight was, tire pressure, and how much snow. I think they had a lot more snow up there.
but a million variables, driving style, throttle, psi, lockers, etc etc

Re: The Colorado BS thread

If he would've aired down more that would have helped, but his tires just weren't cleaning out very well at all. He is open/open but minus a tent and some other stuff in the back it was pretty empty. We were going through a good foot of snow in most places, with it getting even deeper in spots. There were times where my 35's were almost buried.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Oh he had plenty of throttle. There were a few times I actually though my Jeep was going to stall out it was getting so bogged down by the snow. I never did get stuck though. The Krawlers were super impressive in the snow pack.

Here is a good pic of mine in the snow

Yeah, not that part. I didn't take any pics. I'll have to see what others took. Hopefully there is a good pic of one of the rigs in deeper stuff.
