Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

For the past two saturdays I have spent 10 hours in my garage. Each weekend in that 10 hours I build a bumper and sell it. I like money. About to go meet some craigslist guy for a down-payment for this weekends bumper!

Re: The Colorado BS thread

He has to follow the rules just like FrankZ at Serious did. (not being dick just know that there is HUGE potential for drama about the subject)

From the original drama queen :jester:

Actually I would like to see the pix of what he is doing.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Lol some things never change. Imma stay out of it. I gave. Fair warning cuz he mentioned selling them and not being a vendor posting stuff before has caused issues. Just trying to save headache. But you're the mod so its up to you anyway.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Jeezus Mike, chill out.

David has sold ONE bumper and from what I read, he's gonna build 2 more because he's excited about it.

If David gets to the point that he's gonna set up shop after having sold 20 bumpers with intent to continue, we'll be sure to hit him up about being a vendor if it's appropriate. Nobody was busting Frank's chops after he built his first, second or even tenth set of SliderZ.... matter of fact - the only person who had heartburn about what Frank was doing at that time was Josh (Stang5lgt) and he was doing THE EXACT SAME THING at the time, but chose to stab Frank in the back by crying to National before even approaching the local BOD with his issues. Look how far that got Josh here......

We need to encourage our members, not break 'em down. Everyone's gotta start somewhere and expecting a high school kid to pony up for vendor status is .... well rediculous.

I'm completely confident that every member of the Chapter BOD will stand behind David in his endeavor and has NO issue with what he's doing.

FWIW...... I wanna see pics of a finished one mounted on a rig. Might need one for my Eliminator..... :shhh:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Frank built and sold a lot of parts because people respected and liked the fine craftsmanship he put into his own build. Based on his work, he was constantly asked, without pimping his stuff. Some people got butt hurt because they were asking for Frank's stuff instead of theirs.

We here at NAXJA believe that a person should be able to build their own stuff and support their efforts. If they can help cover the cost of their rig by building a couple and selling them, great. If it turns into a regular thing and by definition a business, we expect them to pony up and become a vendor. I think it is a great reflection on NAXJA that we have a young man who is trying to do an honest job and not be out smoking crack. Unlike many others, he signed up as a dues paying member quite a while ago. When we found out his age, he was changed to a Forum Supporter for legal reasons.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

whoa whoa whoa. Why is everyone thinking that im on the attack here? I think is killer what he is doing. But from being caught up in all the drama and bs that was floating around, I was trying to prevent any. He, or any one else, doesnt need or want any of that shit. Quit assuming im attacking the kid and realize I was kinda trying to look out for him. You old fawkers need to chill the XXXX out. not me

Re: The Colorado BS thread

To put my .02$ in.....

When I was on the BOD the issue came up and it was decided at that time that as far as this chapter is concerned that its ok for people like David, Frank, etc etc to offer/sell their services/products within the chapter as long as they're in a red status. Now David can't be red due to his age so I see no issue with that exception there.

The whole issue with being a vendor is that it costs a healthy chunk of change. For people like David and myself that might sell 2 or 3 bumpers in a year its not even affordable. If we wanted to try and sell stuff on the National level then yes we would have to become a vendor. As long as we keep it with in the local Chapter only and don't go around blatantly pushing our products then its a non-issue.

I agree. And we'll leave the crack smoking to his father. :smoker:

Mike - I totally understand where you're coming from and appreciate your concern.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I thought that the guy said the blowers was no problem on the emissions test, and thee jeeps would pass

By definition, if you change anything under the hood, it should fail the visual portion of the inspection. This is what is the issue with CAI units causing failures. CAIs do not increase emission, they just are not the stock air box...

Unless and until the manufacturer obtains license from the Feds for the lower 48 and CARB for Cali, the product is not street legal and must be tagged "Off Road Use Only".

So, I could be forced to remove my system and replace it with the stock components. I have had it emission tested on the sly and it passes which is a testement to the AEM Controller doing it's job. The Perfect Power unit really did not cut it...

That being said, the AEM is tagged "Off Road Only" because it alters the injector pulse width thereby freaking out the emissions folks. Never mind you can tune the engine to stoich. It is the very fact that you can change it that makes it non-street legal.

Folks like Whipple Industries use reprogrammer chips that have been tested and certified to get around this issue. This removes the end user from being able to alter the tune at will so the Emission folks do not get their knickers in a knot.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Sorry all. I posted only because I am pumped up! I have no plans of making bumpers as a buissness until all my schoolin' is done.

I will post pictures after I get this next one built!

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Glad we're all on the same page here. :D

Anyone going up to winter X? I thought about going up but figured it was a zoo and decided to stay home. Bet the rest of the slopes are pretty empty today..
