Coil retainers?

I dont know from first hand experience, just from what I have read here and the abundance of limiting straps.

Why dont you just put your Jeep on a ramp(front and back) and then youll see where the front isnt a problem on an XJ.Once a spring unloads it can make things even worse if a wheel drops into a crevice vs carrying that corner to the next surface.BALANCE of the suspension is the most important!

if your shocks become the ONLY thing that limits your suspension, a limiting strap is probably a good idea, if just for the sake of the shock.

one wouold assume, that if a strap was installed for this purpose, that it would do double-duty keeping the coil in place.

however, depending on the way a vehilce is built, and how much shock travel you have, it may still not be enough.

I can completely unseat and remove (with tons of room to spare) my coil spring without removing the shock eyes....

It really sucks when you are crossed up on an obstacle, and a front coil unseats and falls off your vehicle.

How big of a duffus do you feel like when that happens, Beezil????

My shocks are not my limiting factor, they may actually be too long. I just dont like the idea of the spring possibly popping out like Beezil said. My arms do follow the angles of the factory brackets, but I dont think this will make a difference since the point at which the angles will start to limit the droop will probably be when the axle is so far away from the rest of the Jeep it wont even look like its part of it...well the retainers cant hurt, they will limit the front akin to how the rear is limited, and when I come down on the Jeep wont just flop over and fall 3-4" before actual spring contact. Should help balance things. (speculation of course)

= good indication of WAY too much droop.

Limit straps, retainer, shorter shocks; something will most definitely be needed.
