coil and leaf combo

I've been looking at the jeepspeed threads and doing some google searches on a prerunnner type suspension for my next XJ. What I see a lot for the coils are RE's and Deaver's, are those those the most common for this application. For the leafs I've only notices Deaver's but I'm thinking there might be other options out there. I have not done much research yet on shocks, and I can get my fab work for LCA's etc. with the same guy Cache goes to. My plan is to build something that can be driven to races and weekend trips. What do you all suggest?

Deaver is the most widely used leaf out there. We run Deaver because they work - they have done a lot of work with length and arch and rate and they seem to have it just about nailed. A couple teams have tried others but nothing is working as good as the Deavers. For coils, Deaver, RE, Skyjacker and a few others have been used successfully. If you are going to do a lot of highway and not racing, you might want to keep the rates a little softer and the lift a little lower than the race setups.

it's mostly city driving work is only 2-3 miles away. If I go for used coils and leafs would I be alright? For shocks I was thinking maybe 12s with a shock hoop in the rear. I'll be going long arms with some stiffening and maybe some control arms in the rear
