CO- Kendall Mountain

Driving north on 550 between Durango and Silverton there is a road visible that climbs up a mountain just before hitting town. We set out to find it and see where it goes. Here's a map:

We got stopped by this snow drift just shy of the top on August 14th:

A short walk rewarded us with this bird's eye view of Silverton accompanied by the sound of train whistles:
