Where are some good places, fairly close to Yelm, that are not Military land?
I don't want to drive two and a half hours to Reiter. Have not found any fun spots Capital Forest (is that the correct name?).

Can anyone fill me in? How close is Evans Creek? Elbe?

Thanks
Jason

We were out at Elbe a couple weeks ago, went up a double diamond w/ p225x75x15, 3" lift. Had no problems. Supposedly theres a place by Kapowsin but I don't know where.
I'm going to try Evans soon.

Elbe is closest, about 45 minutes from you. Evans is a bit further, probably an hour and half. If you go to Elbe, don't go alone and don't go on Busywilde.

There is lots of great stuff at Evans Creek. I have not been to Elm but you should be able to find good stuff there.

There is also that place (maybe capital forest?) that is just south of Olympia on the way out to Grays harbor area (it is just on the south side of the hiway, can not remember the name of it at the moment).

Joe was talking about another place that probably isn't too far from you also, Tihula (sp?) you might want to ask him?

Not sure about "Elm" that Michael is refering to but Capitol Forest is logging roads only No trails for 4x4`s and Tahuya is by Bremerton , Belfair ,area mostly easystuff

Looks like Elbe is going to be my closest. Found directions to the town. Now where would I want to go?

Thanks
Jason

From Elbe, drive east on Hwy 706 6.15 miles and turn left immediately after crossing the railroad tracks. The road will bear to the left after .5 miles, continue to the first fork in the road and keep to the right, proceeding up hill. At the second fork in the road, keep right again, and continue up hill. At 3.07 mile from the main road will be another fork, keep to the left here and you can access several of the trail off of this road, however explore the area as there are many trails around here. From the last fork if you drive about .1 mile then turn left, then immediately right you will be at the entrance of the campground. There is a nice coverd meeting area in the campground with a large stone fireplace.
