Chronic barking from neighbor's dogs.....

Glad to hear you don't blame the dogs for being dogs. It's an owner problem. My ex used to work for the animal shelter in A2, Michigan and had friends working for MHS in Detroit. Every time they'd get together and work came up it was about the ass-hat owners they had to deal with. If they had a problem dog it was usually the result of an irresponsible dog owner. Odd how often those folks had rotten kids, too.

If they make good progress, a good effort....... I'll probably try the 2 beers thing and let them know I appreciate the change - and see if we can mend fences so to speak.

Thats a good move, should go a long way to eliminate any ill feelings they may have of being forced to abide (considering your occupation) ...so to speak.

Having bad relations with neighbors can be tough, i'd rather spend the extra effort being tactful and friendly vs confrontational.

All right buddy, that's to much sh!t talking. Keep that kind of stuff off the boards.
If you would have read his OP he did not say?

I had an air horn from a big rig that I would hit with 150PSI from my compressor blow gun. Every time my neibor would let his dog bark I sounded off. That thing sounded like a freaking locomotive with that much air. I told my good neibors so they let it slide. It worked great. No problem after a week. I'd blast that thing right at their rear padio door and shake the whole hood. I saw an automatic anti dog barking device on an airplane catologe check it out if you don't like the air horn idea. Man thats the most irresponsible selfish thing a neibor can do.

That's exactly my take on the whole thing. Who moves into a new neighborhood and let's their dogs become the biggest issue on the block? I'd be embarrased first, then very proactive to keep from drawing so much negative attention.

Yeah, I totally understand that the dogs aren't at fault here. That's why 22LR's, antifreeze soaked sponges and paint ball guns aren't an option.

That's why I'd suggested OC - you don't have to hit them.

Granted, it would probably work better on the "owners" - but they're never there. It's really a matter of who you can work on first.

Since you've started making headway with the owners (it seems,) do keep going on that course. However, it's people like that who end up giving dog owners a bad rep all over (and certain breeds in general - like pitbulls, dobermans, mastiffs, ...)

I'd honestly prefer working on the owners instead - since they're really at fault here - but they didn't seem to be willing to present themselves for correction. Fortunately, you're making progress - and that's the important bit (I've never been one for damaging a domestic animal for not knowing any better - but it is sometimes necessary to cause discomfort without lasting damage...)

Do they know what you do for a living? Or wouldn't that matter to them?

Johnny....... I don't wanna be the guy that feels the only way to handle neighborhood problems is to throw my being a cop in their face.

No, no. I'm sure he means the Chapter President gig.

Throw some of that NAXJA weight around, people will cower...

I've got some stuff growing in my garden, pretty flowers, plants come back every year, grow like weeds. I use the roots for Cat, Rat and Fox bait in my traps.
