chopping and extending lca's

understand that those questioning you are doing so for yours (and everyone else on the roads) safety.
there have been a lot of unsafe xj's build through the years, i cant wait to see yours.
seaching sucks huh? well so do you for re-hashing this topic without bringing ANYTHING new to it besides your buddy mr pro welder guy.

Searching sucks! I want simple depenable, flexey long arms for about 200 bucks. Maybe too much to ask.

Skip the longarms, $200 will get you a set of RC's drop brackets.

Just as flexy, better geometery, and a whole lot more bang for the buck.

No booty-fab required.

Say what you will about Rusty's I've had great luck with their products and customer support. I have a well used 6 inch lift I got for next to nothing. The lca's I'm running right now are procomps. Rusty's shocks suck but everything else is great. Long arms are expensive. if I put a solid weld on it I don't see the problem. A foot was an estimate, i haven't measured yet.

x2 on that, alot of smack talk against Rusty's but I haven't had any complaints yet.....with the exception of their leaf bushings, haha!

calm down! Tell me what the difference is between a company welding something together and raping you with the price. Or another pro welder doing the same thing, made from the same materials and giving you a decent price. how many people on here have homemade parts? Most of em. If I wasn't 100 percent sure it would be safe I wouldn't do it!

Is this your daily driver that is getting the home made long arm? If not then I would say the home made setup will work just fine. On the other hand, a daily driven home made kit would (im my opinion) rais more issues.

Here you go man, the concept itself is very simple, no need to get discouraged from everyone saying youre crazy. But what they are emphasizing which is what i will agree on, is safety as you agree too. make sure the metals you are using are thick enough, and strong.

make sure your design is stable, and the welds are not necessarily done by a licensed welder, but someone as good if not better then one. I do not have a lincense, but Ive welded custom air tanks for my car that hold up to 145 psi, with no leaks. so as long as you have someone that knows how to draw an even bead, and deep penetration youre good. hope the pictures help with your project. be safe, have fun.

I appreciate it. I plan on designing a rock solid xmember and making arms from scratch. JJs on axle side bushing on frame side. Does anyone have a link to a good and kinda easy xmember fab?

Good or kinda easy?

I have my flex joints at the frame and my bushings at the axle.

I think I have some pictures in the link in my sig.
