Heat is the biggest enemy!!! no matter how much you try to insulate, it just becomes a huge oven down there. Heat must be allowed to dissipate/rise and flow OUT of the engine bay.
I modified this intake by removing the webbing between the runners to further allow the flow of heat out of the engine bay
Boost isnt everything!!! Why boost really high if you have to do serious timing retard....I have found that you can make more Hp/TQ (down low where it counts)by using more aggressive timing with less boost (say 7psi) than with 14+psi and lots of timing retard. With more boost you wont feel the pull until higher RPM but with the lower boost and more advanced timing the engine responds much better and boosts up much quicker. If you use a high octane fuel though, go ahead and boost away and try not to pull much timing.
