URE in the rain is not very easy, the last time I was there in Oct and it rained for the entire 3 days I was there every trail was much harder. I seen 3 vehicles roll on Daniel in a matter of 45 minutes, Kodiak Rock was almost impossable if it weren't for a damn good spotter.

well..I was chatting with Woody about this and he told me that having the crawl at Uwharrie would be a mistake. He's done the place in the rain in a stocker. He thiks anyone driving a distance will be very dissapointed.
BS.....ill beat my jeep he cant do all URE when its Porning rain in a STOCKER! hell that shit is SLICK

Seems to me that everyones opinion as a whole doesn't matter...

I feel like since the MAJORITY of the SEC seems to be in NC,SC,GA and VA that 'central' would be in NC... I don't care where it is but I sure as hell ain't driving past 3 other parks on the way to KY.

Ok...

I seriously doubt you'll get a stock jeep up Kodak or Budwiser even when it's DRY ...I made budwiser 1 out of 4 attempts... Ghost didnt make the Kodak ledge... heck, CKale1 had a hard enough time locked on 33's getting up it one of the by-passes.

Add some rain.. and yeah to be perfectly honest this place is getting about as bad as JU w/ all the freaking "WEB WHEELERS"...

BESIDES... IF Uwharrie is too easy for you we'll take a group up to DPG for the day.

I'm not saying choose it... but atleast give it a chance and add it to the poll..

To be honest... at this point Uwharrie's just about as difficult as Tellico..

With the option of DPG and Uwharrie as one..This lets rigs of ALL SIZES have a good time with a great family environment.. There is no reason why this can't be viable... This process is getting really F-ing old.... You have not been there so I know you can not properly made a decision, thus more localized leadership is needed for such instances.

No Uwharrie isnt the most difficult trail system around.. BUT since we're doing all these polls why not start one about what everyone drives..

I bet you'll find that 70% of the members here have no more than 1 locker and are on 33" tires or less... Uwharrie would be fun for them... and then as it's been said over and over and over again one of the most badass playgrounds on the east coast is less than 30 minutes away..

Uwharrie has access to Badin lake, has nice campgrounds, has some of the best potato wedges at the El Dorado Outpost I've ever eaten, etc.... BUT in July it's going to be hot and most likely dusty... Everything has +'s and -'s.

One advantage it has over Tellico is you dont have a 45 minute ride to the trail system from camp.. I'll never do that again..

If you're even remotely serious about Callalantee... Uwharrie's a no-brainer..

AND, to everyone that says "if it's at Uwharrie, then i'm not coming"... who cares, don't come... BUT, dont use lack of difficulty as a cop out excuse when there's lines less than 30 minutes away you don't have a chance of making...

Ok, fourth page chime in but here goes. Last year I had a trip planned to Harlen but it got cancelled. I later talked to Andy @ carolina rock shop and he said a rig of my size would be there to watch if I planned to drive it home. I've been to Mtn. City and had a blast. I'm on 33's and locked in the rear. The rig took a beating but ...
Anyways, Mtn. City is fun but a large group up there would be boring. It's one way and very slow moving.
URE might not be as difficult as Tellico but it offers something for everybody. DPG is sick and close for those who just want to test ther rig.
I know, nothing new said here but.... Here are Pics from Mtn. City

Chris, I don't know who took that last pic you posted... That could be a poster for "Only in a Jeep". LOL
On a side note, Hopefully I'll be on 35's next time we go out. Doing a test fitting of Linc's this week.

Those poor poor uni-bearings!

So why does the ONE person that seems to make all the decisions around here rarely comment on things at hand? It's quite frustrating waiting all day long.

Uwharrie is the wrong place for the crawl. Woody has run most if not all of URE in 2wd. I know I have wheeled with him and 2offroad a lot out there over the years. I run all of URE in 2wd normally. The last time I was there Chriss I ran every open trail at URE in one day! I walk every trail out there. The only reason I had trouble last trip was I didn't have the coil retainers in. Kodak is one ledge that we all have trouble with if we dont have 35's + and lockers front and rear. I have run lower 2 at tellico with 33's locked. I have seen rigs with one locker run lower 2 and slickrock and do fine. URE does not have enough trail to occupy the traditionally large group that the crawl brings in. JMHO of course. I will vote after I ride Callalantee but I have ridden Tellico and URE and DPG and other places not on the map. From what I have read and heard Harlan is the best place for all. However, it isn't even in our chapter. It sucks that Tellico has closed some of its trails for a year since it is very central to the chapter and can be run by a large varity of rigs. I am under the impresion that Callalantee is mostly ATV oriented so there is probalby places for stockers to go.

I wouldn't mind a bit if it were somewhere else. I have never been to any of them.. BUT what gets on my nerves is that it isn't even an option! What if I don't want to vote on any of the options? I mean for that matter Gulches has places that only a handful could do or even be crazy enough to try but I'm not sure if it's the right place to go. When I usually go up there are at least 30 vehicles out on the trails so I guess it would be large enough but as far as I know there isn't a very good place to camp.

eh...

lol not enough room/trials??? URE holds the big ZU meet and a the full size chevy and also fullsize bronco clubs ussally come down once a year.....hell izu even had a meet there last year and each meet was like 25 rigs....the zu event was even more. so how many rigs do u think the sec would show up? Someone put it as a choice and see what happens, i dont see what the big deal is to not put it on there. if u look back through here half the people in this thread are pro URE. i thought this was a poll not a hey were going here thread:thumbdn:

I don't get my heep on the trail very often. I have been to URE a few times when I was stock and it is a very easy trail system with only one area that was impassable but tried and took the bypass. I have been to URE many times as a passanger. I will not be able to attend the crawl but would go for the day if it was at URE. The only draw back would be the size of the trail system. For a multi day event we would be riding the same stuff over and over. DPG is nice been there once and and could ad to the fun. The other concern with URE would be the crowd. There has been to many time when the trails are so congested with rigs that it took some of the fun out of the trip.
