Re: Chequamegon-Nicolet Nat Forest MLVM

Not exactly news, but good of you to post it here. :loveu:

A couple of things I would like to make note of:

* If you are caught on a road that is not on that map as approved for MLV use, you will be fined.

* 99.9% of the roads on the MLVM are simply sand, or asphalt roads.

* The Annual closure of the Nic/Chiq Forests for Spring Thaw, is coming up March 15th, and will last until April 30th. The NFS requests that all motor vehicles stay out of the Forest during that time.

Well I do know that forest roads have been open to motor vehicles, just this is the most concise "mappage" of which I have come across. And yes as you stated 99.9% of the forest roads are just that, forest roads. Should take a road trip though that's for sure.

Rob, if you have time for lunch, give me a call. I'll be in class from 11-12:20 and 2-3:20 EST

X2 on the fines. I was going to a lake to retrieve a friend's ice shanty. I stayed on the path and we snow shoed in the other 2 miles to get it. When I came back there was the Forest Service. I did not get a fine as it was March 17th and the guy gave me a break. There were no gates or signs up on the road I went on but I know now to check the web sites before I go. Yes it was also past the date he was to have his shanty off the lake. :twak:
