Chapter Logo

(and why are they upside down?
if it is supposed to be a reflection, it should match top to bottom).
Who says that they are upside down. Maybe they're white mount ions and the sky is dark. Then we're looking at a valley.

The mountains are upside down because it is the only kind of space filler that doesn't look out of place. I cannot do anything about the tires, they are how they are, I can also not "freehand" a cartoon XJ on the computer. It's easy to be picky when your not the one doing the work. I modifed this logo about 9 different times, which I could prove by all the files now on my comp.

I do appreciate the support, but as a full time student and a full time employee, this is the best I have time for, take it or leave it.............. :paperwork

That post sounds kinda mean, but I don't mean it that way. If I had more time and a paycheck coming, I could produce something alot better............. :laugh3:

You guys also have the luxury of seeing my blown up design copy with all the detail, if it's on your Jeep , it'll be about this big................

Having been through the brain numbing IC Decal design process, I feel your pain. I'd like to buy a few of the CO decals when they are available.....one thing that no one has mentioned though, although the rear droop is meant to be exaggerated, it appears as though the u-bolts are broken and the rear axle is sliding out the driver's side. :laugh3:
My feedback is too lose some droop in the rear to balance out the overall look, not that my voice counts for jack.......just trying to help out the my neighbors.

That was discussed back channel, but after playing with it for a while; it really couldn't be fixed without putting the driver's side tire through the hood............ :repair:

Time is money, and I have neither........... :hang:

I dont see anything wrong with it DJ. I would def run in on my Veh. You def. have my vote.....

DJ,

Don't let the criticizm get ya down. Everyone does have good intentions. There's always gonna be critics and I doubt anyone could come up with a design that everyone is gonna like 100%.

I definitely LOVE the final design you've submitted! I think it'd be a great addition to my banged up fenders! Thank you for the time you've devoted to this already!

If any of you other Colorado guys have an image of an XJ with a similar profile as the one DJ has used that you feel would look better, by all means, send it to him back channel and see what he can do with it. Otherwise, chill out if you can't compete!

DJ,I like your final design-just my $.02.
Troy, you'll only have one banged up fender.I'm bringing you a pretty straight one-already trimmed-with a nice camo pattern on it.It's up to you to turn it yella. :)
Also,if anyone is interested,I have a GDI 3 core radiator for '90 and older XJs (closed cooling system-Renix engines). Its in great shape,it was seeping a tiny bit from the drain plug but thats probably because the plug needs to be tightened a little.I'll dump it for $50.Its about 3 yrs old and kept my XJ nice and cool (never went over 210 degrees).Let me know and I'll bring it to the meeting along with Troy's parts.
Jeff

hey troy i thought you said i could offer my opinion once my name was in red??! ;)

please don't confuse "critique" w/ criticism... just trying to offer constructive feedback. i've done my share of professional design work in my day.

anyway, my idea (below) was already nixed (in fact, exaclty a year ago looking at the date of the file).

C'mon now, you know by now that if I had an issue with you specifically, I'd have addressed you directly.......

I was speaking toward all the criticizm posted in this thread - just making sure DJ knew not to get discouraged and to take the comments for what they were.

Feeling guilty Terry? :laugh3:

Again, bravo DJ! Looks great!

guilty? no...
paranoid? maybe... :eyes:

ouch.. tough call...

2 sides of a coin here:

i like DJ's logo a bunch, plus personally having a graphic design background, i can appreciate the time he probably spent on it. looks really great DJ!! how the heck did you find the time between school, sleep and the night shift?

flip side: i'm REALLY into simplicity. i think terry's logo looks really nice too.. plus it's *kinda* got that old school 2 letter abbreviation kickback to it.

sooo... given it's such a tough decision to make, i'd like to opt for an alternate option...

option 3: cage match.

I like Terry's design as well. The thing to look into maybe is production costs. (if we're worried about that.) To keep the detail that is in DJ's I don't know if it could be done in cut vinyl, most likely have to be printed as a sticker. (something that I know nothing about) Terry's could be done either way. maybe costing less for vinyl? (but as I said before, I know nothing about production costs of stickers)

It's lunch time for me, so I thought that I'd throw out some food for thought.

Daryl

ignore spelling, work computer has no spell check.

thanks for the comments... fwiw, i wasn't really throwing my design back into the ring (just something i threw together last year when the chapter formed).

having said that, my design (as has been noted) is pretty basic and i'm guessing could be made into a sticker in low quantities for fairly cheap (black on white).

one option is that DJ's design could be the "official" chapter sticker (since the officers seem to prefer it) and made out of vinyl for those that want it;
i could do just a short run of stickers for anybody that would like to run it (or both). i had considered doing at least a one-off for me anyway. :D

P.S.
anybody heard from 'old man' lately? tom just because you're no longer chapter prez doesn't mean you have to keep a low profile! see you on the 19th??

just a thought.

terry

Just to stir teh pot (like us CO guys like to do :D :laugh3: ) Heres something I made today in class, it is merely a product of my own boredom, so feel free to critique it, im not soft. :D I thought it combined the simplicity and the liscense plate idea w/having an XJ in it.

I think Terry hit the nail on the head himself. I like his design as well, but it looks very similar to every other one of those stickers you get at the souvenir shops. I'd like to see something that stands out from anything else.

Andrew's is kinda cool too, but I still like the 3 dimensional look of DJ's.

With DJ's, I also like the fact that the XJ isn't specifically colored. I imagine that not everyone would care for a red grille with a stinger bumper represented on the club sticker.

I'm still leaning toward DJ's.

Another thing we could discuss at the meeting is if we'd like to have the option of 2 stickers to choose from. I could easily see that the semi-hardcore to hardcore guys liking DJ's sticker on their fenders, but some of our easier trail minded guys liking Terry's sticker and putting it on their windows or bumpers. Ideally, one sticker should probably represent our Chapter, but I think it's worth discussing.

Great submissions so far though!
