Guys,

We need some of you to volunteer your talents and time and become active for the Chapter. The current Chapter Board of Directors elections are coming up in November and All of the seats are going to be needing filled.

Yep, President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, Director and Western Slope Director positions will all be available.

This is your oportunity to do some great things with the Chapter. It's true, the current BOD has not done a stellar job as of late, but we've all been involved with these positions for a few years - some as long ago as 2005. We're all pretty much ready to hand over the reins and let some folks with new energy and ideas run with it!

So, be giving this some serious consideration! Don't hesitate to get with any one of us current BOD guys if you have any questions about job descriptions, duties and whatnot. Justin, Jeff, DJ and I will certainly be more than willing to help get you guys up and running - we want to see success as much as the rest of you!

Feel free to discuss the positions and election here - get your questions answered!

Troy - I've spoken with a few people about my desire to run for a BOD spot, can't recall if you were one of those people or not. I know I spoke to Jeff for a little bit at CO Fest.

Would you be able to provide a brief summary of each BOD role? I figure that might be easier than answering PMs from several different people. :D

What does one need to do if he/she wants to run for something? Just get somebody to post up a nomination? When will nominations begin? You have to be a member to nominate and vote, correct?

Is anyone from the current BOD going to run again? Jeff had said he doesn't want to and based on the absence of Justin I'd guess he doesn't either. What about you and DJ? Just curious! EDIT: after re-reading your post, it sounds like none of you want to run again... ?

The Treasurer is responsible for managing chapter funds (obviously). Make sure our COHVCO membership is renewed yearly. Mostly responsible for handling swag orders and decals. Thats not really a written rule, but since you are managing funds, it simplifies things. Really anything administrative, recording meeting minutes and posting them up. You are a mostly a "behind the scenes" officer of the board.

Fair enough!

In addition to the questions above, what kind of involvement does the CO BOD have with vendors/sponsors? I assume the local BOD would be responsible for rounding up sponsorship (read: giveaways) for CO Fest, for example.

If the vendor is a National sponsor, hands off. You can't contact them. Anyone else is fair game. Troy normally contacted sponsors before the event. National supplies a small amount of prizes to supplement the raffle. When the program works like it should, you can get some pretty top tier stuff. We had a full set of 35" BFG muds one year. When it's fubared, its hard to come up with prizes when a lot of the local vendors sponsor National. National doesn't send you much, if anything, and you can't source the stuff yourself. This has been a hit or miss issue in recent years. We are trying to correct this on the National level.

Just general seats in leadership. Lend a hand where it's needed. No specific role. Take on as much responsibility as you want. Western slope was to give those guys a little more voice in the Chapter. Help to keep them active and to better organize things on their side of the world.

For now yes. Though next year when the Directors are up, I'd like to see them pushed out to two years. That way you stagger the leadership, so what we have happening now does not happen again. Continuity is your friend.......;)

That will be a decision for the next board though.

Better yet, stagger one Director and the President, against the other three. We might start that now. I'll see what the Board thinks.

Based on "you, member in good standing" and his definition of "member in good standing", I'm putting my money on Yes.

Well I'd be down for director if anybody wants to nominate me. I'd love to go after a more involved position but with my army stuff I can't risk taking on too much. I definately would like to get involved though
