you were probably still in diapers when mt. pinatubo errupted in the phillipines. it was huge. a massive plume of ashen smoke across the sky. it was the second largest erruption of the 20th century. it's said that 15 million tons of sulphur diozide was released into the atmosphere (sulph. diox. is considered a "greenhouse gas") yet the result was a "decrease in temperature worldwide for the next few years." that was ONE eruption.

you know what else is considered a "greenhouse gas"- carbon dioxide. opps don't exhale- you're making the planet warmer... what a joke.

the problem i have is that there's so little concrete proof of the actual relationship between our activities as a global society and "global warming." opposition scientist are completely derrailed from expressing their opinion because media rarely gets is right.

i bet you probaly were not aware that Yosemite valley was formed by glaciers. same with much of the landscape in Vermont. but those disappeared long before there was any significant population of humans on the continent... LLLLOOOOOOOOOONNNNGGG before a the internal combustion engine. so why is now any different? it just does not match up.

follow the money dude. this is a way to force people to change their lives, change their quality of living, and forcing an unproven idiotic agenda down our throats. believe me- i love clean water and clean air just as much as the next guy. i'm a conservationist. i only kill what i can eat. i only take the fish that are plenty and rapidly replenished. i exercise personal responsibility.

i agree that certain regulations need to be in place- but those were enacted long ago.

Actually, it's common knowledge that the democratic party is moving so far left that it just a frog's leap from socialism. Only a socialist would see a military prison as a national park. (And yes, Alcatraz was initially a military prison before it became a civilian prison).

Like you said "Follow the Money". Look at huessein Obama's Economic stimulus package, what a load of fecal matter.

$600 Million to NASA to study global warming (would you disprove global warming if someone was going to give you 600 million to try to prove it?) How does this stimulate the economy anyway!!

$600 Million to buy fuel efficient government vehicles (that is double what is currently spent) (Would you pay double for a fuel efficient vehicle)

Don't forget Pelosi's Abortion Stimulus package. "Kill babies for monetary gains!?!?!?!?" (these people are leading our country:gonnablow:gonnablow)

Look at California's situation, the government cannot effectively function anymore.

Anyway back to Smog issues. An exhaust guy I know is telling me he is finding it difficult to get regular catalytic converters anymore. only OBD II converters are becoming available, that is gonna cost at least double (state mandated probably). I they get their way we will be paying a premium tax to keep are old clunkers (on top of the proposed tripling of the registration taxes)

One last tidbit. Oregon's governor is proposing taxing all drivers by the mile!!!!!

This is the first I've heard of this. What, she's gonna pay people to have sex and abort children? Is that her way of getting them off welfare, fund the aborting of kids rather than having them as we currently do? Somehow, I don't think I'd be surprised. :doh:

Two points to make here, regardless of your position on abortion.

1. Since when does giving money to perform abortions and hand out contraceptives stimulate the economy. Less people = prosperity????

If that is the thinking of some politicans, Beware of universal healthcare during hard economic times, politicans will decide who deserves healthcare to save money, ( I hope you don't smoke, drink, eat junk food, abd you better exercise.)

2. Why is our government sponsoring abortions, Here and in foreign countries. why is my government getting into peoples buisness.
 
GOOD LORD! I can't believe Pelosi would say such a horrible thing. what amazes me more is that a bunch of idiots in this world agree with her. I'll bet they're thankful that their mamas didn't abort them. Forget socialism, we're on the fast track to being more communist than China! "One child per family! And you can only have children if your family is recognized by the government and if you're past a certain age" Sound rediculous? I know a woman who is a missionary there. Some friends of hers were forced into an abortion because she wasn't old enough.

If people in this country had a clue how much of their hard earned income goes to the government they would riot in the streets for change. We are being taught to be apathetic because an apathetic populace is an easy populace to overtake.

I, at age 43, remember in the early '80s when you consistently couldn't see the Matterhorn peak in Disneyland from I-5, because it was lost in the murk. It is now almost always visible.

Some of what's been done to alleviate bad air quality is actually good. "They" just go overboard with it, and add crap that's not necessary. Political pork and back rubbing at it's finest.
