Center axle disconect options

'88 XJ, stock Dana 30 front axle. I'm having problems with the center axle disconect and what I would like to do is just remove it, cut out a block-off plate to bolt in its place, and install a 1 piece axle shaft.
Has anyone done this?
Can I use a stock inner shaft out of another front axle? If so, what?

check out rusty's. There was a kit they had, had the proper seals and the block off plate for like $20.
Then you just put in a solid one piece shaft from a later d30, preferably with the larger u-joints.
