What works for you?
XJ is basically a DD with some light 4 wheeling, I think I'll just lock the rears since twice now I've had issues with getting out on the open diff.
What's cheap? :D
it's a D35 with stockish size tires.

DJ is right. I have Detroits front and rear but mine dont see a bunch of DD duties any more. The detroit is not noticable in the front in 2wd. But in 4WD it can be a real bitch on the ice.

Personally, I like my selectable lockers, but spending that kind of money on a d-35 with stockish tires probably isn't worth it unless you plan on keeping it for awhile without changes.

I think you're right, I'd have to go with selectables.
I think I'll bag it and carry some chains.

My leaves fanned out in the snow and lunched my two back tires so I guess I get to replace those first

OK, so what are "selectables" anyway? I'm back after a year in Iraq & I want to improve my XJ toy. I've got stock axels now on my '98 and with all the snow & ice of late...I think lockers would be a good investment.
Thanks!

What about a limited slip??? I run an Alburn ls in the rear and a Detroit Tru-Trac in the front and it works good. If I were to go more aggressive, I would put a Detroit locker in the rear and run the 29 spline axles (8 1/4).
