Camping Sunday Nite Before Sierra Fest

Robbs Resort has offered to give to a reduced 'pre-opening' rate to anyone who pre-registers ($10 a person) who wants to stay at the Resort before the Sierra Feat Rubicon Run on Sunday? Kind of cool before they "open" as it is a lot less formal. This could be good if the area around the Rubicon is closed. Also that night there will be a band, Kenny Frye Band. They are on FB/Youtube. Seem to be your standard guys in cowboy hats with shirttails out. I also heard the band is pretty good! They are not open, so no beer or ice will be available there.

They are holding the north campgrounds open for , each North RV site has a spigot and fire pit. Probably group couple rigs per site. Anyone wanting to stay should pay upfront to hold a spot.

Who is up for this let me know.

They want to know as soon as we can let them know how many people are coming. That means we need to collect the $10 to make reservations for people.

Looks like everyone will camp at the head of the Rubicon Trail. So I’ve told Robs resort that we will be not taking them up on their offer of camp there.
I also heard from my contact at Robins resort that both the jamboree before and after we go have been canceled. Did anybody else hear this?

yea all the jamborees are canceled

I’m thinking two things. First thing is that they’ll be nobody around and the bathrooms will not be totally tore up. The second thing is maybe nobody pays any attention to the trail and the damaged is pretty bad.
What do you guys all think?

I expect a significant percentage of the people who were planning on attending the jamborees, will still take those days off work and run the trail on the days they were planning. Without the benefit of organizers and guides and restroom facilities.

I expect Fordyce will still be busy on Sierra Trek weekend, again because people were planning on going there on that weekend anyway.

I expect there will still be people unofficially attending each cancelled event because, why not go anyway.

Jamborees always stack a ton, so we should have less stacking hopefully.

I agree with Phil. From what I'm seeing on socialist media there are lots of folks on the trail and most who had planned on attending the Jamborees will hit the trail anyway. With everyone's vacation plans being disrupted due to Covid, more people are out on the trails.
