camming my renix ?!?!

I have an 88 comanche 4.0 auto renix 4x4. Well recently I lost compression in cylinder six due to a bad lifter that ended up ruining the cam as well. So I went ahead and ordered a cam, lifters, and valve springs. http://m.summitracing.com/parts/cca-cl68-232-4
So I guess im asking what should I expect out of this setup and is there any simple cheap tricks to get more hp and mpgs while im at it? Its also bored .040 over with a K&N filter and an after market muffler of some sort with out a cat.

In all honesty Im pretty broke at the moment, but theres still room for somthing that can make the world of a difference. I have a manifold off of a ho motor but thats to much work to swap in at the moment. im thinking a cai is going to be high on the list of things to do. would injectors help this set up at all?

So i came into a problem while installing the valve springs. I found out the stock retainers wont work with the new springs so I ordered these.

So today i go to install the springs and retainers and noticed the retainers have a larger bore than the factory ones and the keepers arent working with the retainer. am i missing somthing? summit has these,

but they are a stock replacement and a summit representative pointed me towards them. at this point im wondering why i cant run the stock springs?

Just so you know a HO exhaust manifold will not work with a Renix intake, they conflict with each other. You can however use a Renix exhaust manifold with a 99+ intake.

How so? I've use early stock HO manifolds, and the only conflict was the need for some filing of the intake manifold at the front and rear.

If I could post photos, I would.

Now, some HEADERS off ebay etc present some real issues sometimes.

yep already figured that out and im using the stock manifold. but im currently having problems with the valve springs and fitment. it seems the retainers i got are for a larger valve . so im thinking my 88 renix engine doesnt fall under the notes where 88 and older require new valve springs, retainers, and keepers.

Those parts are for a 4.2 and not a 4.0 .. IIRC, Comp does not have a spring that works on the 4.0.

You want the Mopar Performance stuff for the 4.0 / Magnum.

Well I got the engine all put back together and running. I got approximately 800 miles on it now and all is good so far and Im getting 14 mpgs. Not great but not terrible. As for the cam I was hoping for something a little bit more aggressive. Its hardly noticeable at an idol. It does have a little bit more get up and go. I reused all the stock valve train components as well. I would say this cam is a pretty good stock replacement.

If you wanted more aggressive, would have wanted the Comp 235 - but can't reuse stock valve train with it.
