i was told a while ago that camburg coils for an i beamed ranger will fit on the front of a jeep cherokee. is this correct, i know a guy on another forum that put deaver jeepspeed coils on the front of his i beamed ranger so it seems like the other way around should work too...any thoughts?

they should work if you flip them and cut the D shapped part of the coil off. The spring rate is going to be way stiff. I put some f150 coild on my xj back in 04 and they were ruff.

even though they are progressive rate and came off a 4.0 ranger?

got it. so would it be a better idea to get coils made for a jeep? i am asking this because i used to have these coils and sold them to a friend with a lift kit i had. he has since sold the truck and asked if i want to buy the coils back

Yes undoubedtly. I bet those camburg coils are around 400lbs/inch. shits gonna ride rough. I love my skyjacker coils that are at 240.

My first built Xj was in 1990-91 on my V8 289 Boss XJ. I used 2 wheel drive Ford coils to get the lift I needed for 35's back then. They were available in 2"4" and 6" lifts. I used 4" 2 wheel drive which gave me 5 to 6" lift plus I stacked factory spring bushings for another 1.5" of lift. I flipped the springs upside down and cut the bent spring arm retainer off to fit the pucks. Fords have retainer clips on their spring bucket to keep the spring from falling out! So yes they will work and so will the van coils as well as the early F150 and Broncos. As far as rough I never noticed, it had an 8000 winch and a V8 in it, so no I never thought it rode rough but that's all that was available at the time. Hell running 33's was hard to fit under an XJ. I just recently switched out the coils on my 95 to TJ coils and I think they are too soft so there you have it!!
