Calling all owners of 00-01 XJ's...

2000 with 3.5". I have had neither issue.

I got $3K off mine when I bought her used at 31K miles (Still on factory waranty).

There was smoke coming out the back and no oil pressure.

Salesman said just drive it back anyway. We drove it the mile back and I was about to forget about it. I was curious so I poked my head under the engine and noticed the oil filter had come loose and was leaking oil onto the exhaust. Told salesman I would have to get the engine rebuilt and still kinda wanted it. So, he took $3K off the price.

Shop filled her up with oil, drove 90mph home and engine still very smooth.

Not that I would suggest doing this on purpose, just putting it out there.

The reason for the higher probability of vibrations is due to the LP axle itslef. It takes a lot smaller lift to put the driveline at a bad angle. Also, in 2000 there were 3 O2 sensors instead of 2, which can be a problem depending on your exhaust plans. From what I see and read, '99 is the best later-model year. I have a '99 4" lift and 31X10.50's and have had no problems. I'm also putting 4.10s and a locker in the front (HP 30). My suggestion, get a '99 :rof:

I have a 2000 xj 9 inches of lift. And I have vibes coming from all four corners.

But, on a serious note. I did have a head crack, but it wasn't until it overheated from a leaking radiator. And the vibes from the front shaft only became noticable when the slip joint went bad... which may have gone bad due to unnoticable vibes. who's knows.

A close friend of mine has 2-2000 xj that are daily drivers and both with about 130,000 miles on the clock and both have remained very reliable.

Personally, I'd hold out for a 99, though.

I wouldnt limit it to a certain year. If you find a rig you like buy it. If you get an 00-01 the head is easily swappable for a 630 in a weekend for a couple hundred IF it cracks. As far as the axle d30's aren't really desirable anyways so putting a hp30 in it would be even easier and cheaper. I've had 37 iroks on my 00' for years running the lp30 and no problems :dunno:.

I have a 2000 XJ sport with a 3 inch lift kit (buying a rustys 4.5 soon) (dont know the brand) It came with the truck I bought new shocks (skyjackers nitros) and had one of the rear shocks relocated to a different mounting position from where it was.

Im running 31 inch pro comp xterrians on 15 inch cragar soft eights I get a lot of vibe from the tires not so much from the suspension

On my A/T's I get a vibe at 60 and on my pro comps I get a vibe at around 35
