I've an urgent question guys so pls. help.

I do have a 90 model XJ and right now i am in the phase of ordering the super 35 kit..

when i checked some web sites i am confused because there are two types. One for a

c-clip version and one for non c-clip. I guess mine is non c-clip am i right? and what if i

order the wrong version will it still work??

Thanks a lot

Pull the diff cover. Remove the center pin holding the spider gears in. Remove tires and drums, and push the axles in. If 2 clips that are shaped like 'C' fall out, you have a C-clip axle. If you remove the drums, and cannot push the axles in, you have a non C-clip axle.

Being that your rig is a '90, you should have a C-clip axle anyhow.

I say you have c clips. But make sure you can return anything your buy just in case.

But most on here will tell you upgrading the dana 35 is a waste. (myself included)

Just drive with a light foot off road and carry spare axle shafts and c clips. I got a pair of axle shafts for about 30 bucks at the junkyard just in case.

This kit contains everythink i need i guess, so even if it is designed for c-clip or not cant i use both versions??

No, the axles/bearings are different for c- and non-c-clip. The non-c-clip axles have cone bearings, and they are secured to the axle housing at the outer ends.

On a Non-C-Clip, the ends of the axle tubes flare out to contain the Set 10 bearing. On a C-clip, they are straight all the way to the backing plate mount.

my 90 had a non c clip 35 in the back..... so does my 89..... so i would definately double check.... couldnt you also just look behind the drum brake and see if you have the 4 bolts that hold the axle in place with a non c clip setup?
