Who makes them and is one better than another?

Why do you need a C-clip eliminator? Just do a disk break conversion and be done with it. You'll gain the advantage of disks and a make shift c-clip eliminator. Oh yeah, upgrade to the 29 spline carrier and shafts if you haven't already got them. And another suggestion is to search, this topic has been coverd a few times.

just because you switch over to disk doesn't mean you can leave out the C-clip.

Yes thats not what I am saying, the only reason to go with a c-clip emil. kit is to prevent the axle from traveling out of the housing when the shaft breaks. You still need the c-clip in there, the rotor and caliper now acts as a make-shift elim. kit and will get you to some point where a repair can be done, but not a few miles down the road.

And when was the last time you saw a broken 29 spline shaft break at the c-clip from side loading?

the suguestions in this thread are CRAZY

a calpier is designed to STOP the vehicle, not take the side load of a shaft

and really there is no C-clip eliminator for a Chryco rear 8.25.the only way to eliminate it would be to cut the ends off your axle tubes and weld on a 44 flange and at that point get a 44.

Ever bust a c-clip or see an 8.25 break from sideloading? I agree that the rear discs will suffice to get you over an obstacle and to the side of the trail for a shaft replacement, but won't get you home.

i know what happens to Chryco when you push it to hard

haha anyone wonder how the above guy managed to get his xj to hover after the axle broke?

c-clip eliminator is a nice thought but how far are you realy going to go with building you 8.25 if your worried about breaking axles with any regularity you shouuld be looking into a better axle not an easier way to fix it. seeing as an axle can be found for around the price of a c-clip elim kit. if you dead set on keeping the 8.25 convert to disk and carry a spare shaft that way if you break it as stated above you can get to a decent spot on the trail to cange it.

So, you broke the C-clip in that shot?

never said it was a C-clip did i.it was the shaft right were it necks down the last time to go intothe carrier.just showing that i have expienced a broken axle in a 8.25

as to how it was hovering it was with a highlift jack on the back.

here is my C-clip eliminator

So you are not critical of C-clips?

perhaps off topic here but,
this is the second time Ive read about c clip eliminator
Ive never seen one
do they even make one for any c ip axles that are pertinent to a Jeep
8.8, chryco or a D35??

Early XJ DANA 35s didn't have C-clips. The axles were held in place with a wheel bearing retainer plate. The big problem with braeking an axle on an 8.25 is if it breaks at the spline then you have to fish the remaimder of the axle out of the differential.

And how is that different than breaking any other axle shaft, C clip or not?
