There is one other small issue. There is a (around 2" wide) moulding that runs down the side on post '97s. On stock flares it stops just short of the flare. However, after opening up the fenders and putting these larger flares on, they will interfere with the fit. You will have to either trim the flare to fit over them (difficult to get exactly right) or trim the moulding (easier to do but the cut edge will look unfinished)
Other than this and the rear bumper cap issue the instructions on that site will be dead on.

Or rip out the inner plastic all together.

No this isn't the inner plastic. It's a 3" wide body trim piece that runs from the rear flare to the front flare about 8" from the bottom of the vehicle.
In fact, you can see it in jeepzzzs pictures above

the rears don't really fit that well and will have to be modified (trimmed). It took me awhile to do it on my 2000. I didn't get as good a fit as some of these pix posted show. You guys did a great job! Gonna have to go back to the board and redo part of them!

I actualy regret putting them on. They look real good going down the highway and sitting in a parking lot but for 'wheeling, they suck! I have tore them off and had to put them back on twice, I lost one and had to replace it. In tight areas they hit and push the body sheet metal in on the sides some times leaving a perm dent. I think I will take them off from now on when I go wheeling so I wont have to worry about them.

I installed these on my '97, no problems at all except for what has already been mentioned, rear bumper end caps, plastic door trim, watch out for your washer fluid bottle, and you will have to trim them to fit around your running boards (assuming you want to keep them ). PM me if you have any problems installing them, I would be happy to lend a hand, if you are in Saanich, that's not far from me in Central Saanich. Nice to see another Islander on these boards.... :canada:

Why don't you put nuts on the back of them to hold them on? I had the front bolt come out on both sides of the front and now they're bolted on and haven't moved since.
