Bushmaster or AK-47?

My dad always taught me to buy the best tools I could afford. If the best you can afford is an AK, go for it. IMO, the AR is a better rifle. It's much more accurate. I have always felt that accuracy is more important than caliber. Any round you can reliably put to the center of mass of your target is better than a one that you can't.

I like the ARs better then the AKs, but they both suck compared to a real rifle. The AR is "handier" then the AK.("ergonomics" doesn't translate into ANY sov-bloc language)

As far as reliability, the only problem with the AR is damaged/worn magazines. "Had the chance to help put a couple thousand rounds through 2 M-16s in '86(Govt paid for the ammo!:yap: Best use of tax dollars I've ever seen!). It is unbelievable how much shooting it takes to start jamming one of those thing up. If you let it get that dirty, you deserve it.

Whatever you do, do it quick. Don't wait for any new proposed legislation. Prices will go up quick!
I bought my AR-15 about 3 months before Brady 1 went into effect. 'Had to pay a grand for a used one.

'Found a used AR-10 in a gun store here for $850.00. AR-15(various mfg)start around 750.00 new(stripped) 'Never looked at new AK, but they start around 250.00. If the new congress is as "blue" as the yammering crowd is expecting, and we get all the change they're hoping for, those prices could double in the next 6 months.

Kinda nice this issue was just brought up, just yesterday I was looking at getting an ak47. I'm also trying to convince my dad that he should get one for "home defense" lol. I know I know it probably wouldnt be the best for home defense or anything but think how intimidating it would be to know the guys who's house you just busted into is trying to shoot you with an assult weapon . I visited them a few days ago and I noticed he had his trusty remington 870 in the closet with buck shots in it lol.

I guess I see things differently than you boys do south o the border. Neither my wife or I feel the need for any home defense weapons, but now that I have my license to buy&possess long barrels and pistols I only see the need for a good 12g (birds/deer), a 243 or 700(deer) and maybe a 9mm for some target shooting at the local range for fun.
But if I wanted a weapon for home defense I think a short 12g pump action is as intimidating as it gets. keep a round in the chamber if you like, if you hear something you don't like, pump once just to let the guy know whats waiting for him. if they know what that sound is... they skeedaddle pretty quick I think.

Shotgun is the way to go for home defense/hunting. I'm pretty sure if i heard the signature SHIIIIIK-SHIIIIK my ass would be going right back out the way i came in. I will always have my trusty .22 marlin to go have some fun with. May go buy a shotgun next week
