1999 (I think, its been about a yr) explorer disc brake rear end from a non wrecked vehicle. After rebuild it has about 1000-2000 miles total on it.
Then stripped, cleaned and tubes welded to housing.
Then TNT full top truss added with thier U-Bolt eliminators. This makes a full truss from tube end to tube end. See picture or give me email address to send them to.
Then ECTED posi / electic locker was installed with 4.88 gears Motive gears and all new timkin bearings. The locker is posi when not engaged and engages with 12V source to full locker. The motive gears are the best you can get for the 8.8.
Then alloy axles were installed.
All new rotors, calipers, pads and outer seals and bearings were also installed.
Then the cover was installed, a 3/8" bullet proof ruffstuff specialties one. This makes the housing that much stronger in the cover area. not only does it protect everything inside the diff, but it also strengthens the whole pumpkin area sigfificantly.
the u-nolt eliminators make for higher clearance under it as well as stronger leaf mount, and its MUCH easier to remove the leafs. they even have 3 hole placments for forward or rear shifting of the axle. These are .75" higher then stock pads and much longer for less spring wrap. With the larger tube and .75 raised pads, you will yield ABOUT 1.25" raise over reg ole D35 with just installing this axle.
Shock mounts were installed on the tube then before they were used new ones were installed on the upper ubolt elim plates, see picture. This is perfect placment for shock threw outer floor on a XJ.
Over all there is not much else you can do to get a stronger 8.8. With the alloy 31sp axles and truss and cover its very stout.
This was used in a rockcrawler so total miles on it are very slow. Not to mention low. Less the 2000 total miles.
Was painted hammerlite 'dark bronze' (its a dark gray) but its been on a few trails and could use a new coat.
1400$ and its yours, ready to bolt in an XJ. all hydraulic brake lines are there and ready to attach to your stock drivers side hard line.
Just in parts theres alot more then that. Locker, gears and axles would be 1400 alone.Located in Orange county
