Build thread: Out of Misery, again...

Re: Build thread: Out of Misery, again....

When I buy parts at O'Riley, the 'kid' there gives me a senior citizen discount cuz I bitch about the prices and want a discount. I find it funny.

Take what you can.

Re: Build thread: Out of Misery, again....

I completely forgot what a pain in the ass removing the leaf spring bolts were, until I was reminded today.

Got the rear springs hung, I want to have a solid base for the jeep when I put the motor in next week so I bolted the axle from the donor rig to have something to hold the rear. I had to see what it looked like with the 33's.

I'm gonna like it...

Re: Build thread: Out of Misery, again....

Rock rails are here. I think I really like the way they mount. Not sure if others mount this way, but the rails I've had in the past were not like this.

They mount by drilling holes in the pinch seam to align with the already drilled/tapped holes in the rail, then mount to the 'frame' like others that I've used. VERY high quality IRO.

Re: Build thread: Out of Misery, again....

...also last weekend while heating the rear upper shock bolts (in hopes they would come out w/o breaking [yeah right]) I caught the rubber bushing on fire, once the shock fell it landed on my arm spewing hot liquid rubber on my arm.

The first real mark my jeep has left on my body, all other marks have been on my wallet...

That's how all the rails I've seen mount.

Same, I got AJs super sliders waay back before WF 2009, they were the fist modification I made to my XJ and I abused them at WF. I have not unbolted them since and they are still holding up great and haven't been beaten up into the rockers yet. I put this to that simple fact that they use 5 bolts on each side through the pinch weld...

Re: Build thread: Out of Misery, again....

The only other rockers I've had were c4x4 and they had a separate piece of angle iron that ran above the rail that bolted to the pinch scene
