Bought XJ - Looking For Former Owner(s)

OK...

1. Yes, that is a roof top tent by Zifer of Italy. They're great! I had one on my first (green) XJ and kept it to put on my Unimog. The one now is from my 2007 Rubicon JK and it is made of carbon fiber. With the tent sides that attached inside, mattress, pillows, ladder, etc. it weighs 73 lbs.
Get to campsite...pop it open...climb on up into it....zip doors shut...go to sleep...high above water from rain...nosey animals...etc. I will post pics as soon as I can.

2. When I was looking for my current (white) XJ, I Carfaxed all I saw and I had one rule...no XJ's from east coast. Too much salt and rust. The white one I bought was sold in northern CA and was always registered here.

I've stepped into "Poo" more than once!
I'll clean my shoes off that's all. :laugh3:

On the campers....

Here's my first one which is the strait crank up Maggolina model. It weighs more at about 110 lbs in fiberglass. I had it on my first XJ and the Unimog. Funny...I have owned 3 4x4's that got totaled after I sold them. The green XJ, the Unimog, and a 1982 Jeep CJ8 (Scrambler).

Here's the current carbon fiber model I have now...the Columbus. It's pictured on my '07 JK Rubicon. I moved it over to the new XJ.

lol i saw a few that were 1600ish... but ya they are for people with deep pockets.

granted if i had that tent top and layed my rear seats forward i could carry a ton more stuff and be able to stay high and dry with my lady =) ... have a new way to rock the jeep lol. plus you could keep your ice chests and foods inside the jeep so bear and other animals cant get to it... maybe next year for my income tax return i'll get one... this year is a focus to pay off bills and get married

Well, I'm sure your bride appreciates being considered "first" over a popup camper!:rof:

Those are the real prices...check out:

I have a bad back and knee and although I have to climb up in there, it's still more comfortable to me then squishing up in back or in a tent on the ground.

As for keeping the food inside...well sometimes! I went to Bodie last year (2007 actually) and camped outside of Bridgeport in a privately owned regulated campground...not my favorite but it was late...the kid that was with me was tired...just needed to stop. That night the Bears came in and went from campsite to campsite just popping window after window by shoulder rocking the cars. Didn't even look inside...just strolled up...popped the window (explode is more like it)...looked inside...moved on when done. By recommondation I left my food outside covered, and although they got it...I had my windows in my Rubicon intact. I kept their initial contact at bay by being on top of the vehicle banging some pots I took up there to begin with. Then they found my food and left the car alone. 6 bears at once in the campsite chomping down on my next days breakfast...for 2 hours!! Funny...I shined a flash light on one 400 lb. male eating something about 70 ft. from my Jeep. He hid behind a tree and peaked out periodically like a scared kid! Strikes me funny cause he could just walk over to my Jeep...stand up and make my evening misable with a couple of swats of his paw!!
