Blinking check engine light - Misfire

hey there, my 2000 xj did the exact same thing it was the crank position sensor...haven't had a issue since, my was number 5 cyl, and some time 3 but the flashing engine light means it could do damage to your cat so then it goes into limp mode is why it running so bad.

Interestingly, NGK's website shows the ZFR5N, a copper-core sparkplug, as the recommended replacement for my 2001 XJ, which has the lost spark ignition system.
The ZFR5Ns are a $1.99 each at Rock Auto.

I replaced that with a brand new Mopar one, didn't make any difference, so I don't even think my old one was necessarily bad. I will be keeping it as an on board back up.

There is a correct way to put the TPS on. You need to seat the throttle shaft in the TPS, then rotate it so the bolt holes line up. If you forced it, it is damaged. However, you would have noticed it going together poorly.

The NGK plug is ZFR5N PN 3459

I noticed it notched in, so I just tilted it, slid it on easily, tilted back to correct seated position with the bolts. It seemed to go on like butter (and I do try to take care) so I hope nothing is broke. Definitely won't rule it out.

New injector comes Thursday, pretty much parked until then.

I will let everyone know if it helps. I'm even going to give the NGK plugs a try soon just for the hell of it.
