That yellow post site is easy to find once you get to the first trail follow it back a good ways to the spur then follow it all the way back, go slow or you'll miss the spur at night basicly the road splits the site to a smaller area perfect for a couple tents and a larger one that is closer to the fire pit and has some decent flat ground for a trailer and a number of tents, don't be surprised to have a few hikers during the day and the ocaisonal lost mini van looking for the campground. Some times you can actually find the stream by there all depends on the water flow when you go. Have fun

This sounds like a lot of fun, I haven't been to Big Bear for a couple years and then that was in a fullsize stock Chevy truck, so what kind of wheeling options are there? Is it looking like a good turnout as well? I like the caravan idea, I'm coming from San Diego..

there are quite a few different trails up there.. gold mt, john bull, and alot of fire roads for those that like that <like me> plus its just beautiful senery... as far as a turn out i would say ask heepspeed <garrett> he's kinda orginizing this .. but from what i can tell it looks like 4 or 5 rigs... ur more then welcome to come on up... the more the merrier... where we are camping a stock rig can make it.... and just for info its a yellow post site which means no water , restrooms, showers, etc ... its true dry camping

Yes, I will be doing a Fall Mojave Road trip again this year. Any vehicles can come. 2wd OK. I'll post up, but probably around Halloween or Thanksgiving. Potential Baja trip in Winter around New Years.

Yes, as Steve said there are options from difficult to easy. There are a few folks coming and a few Expedition Portal folks coming. Right now about 5-6 rigs (not all Jeep). We'll split into groups for the trail days since I'll be going with Max on the hard trails and hopefully someone will step up to lead the easier trails. I'll have my SoCal 4x4 guidebook to loan out for those who want it for the easy trails.

UPDATE: Is anyone interested in a casual Saturday potluck? It could be that you bring a little extra of your Saturday night meal or we plan a mealtype and everyone contributes something. Thoughts?

My last potluck in Mojave included everyone pitching in something mex and was awesome.

ps: Does anyone know if my buddy's passenger van can make it to YP 30? He wants to bring his dirtbike in it. Thanks!

So in order to be a pest and deter any goons from coming which will ruin the relaxing trip being planned, I give you the longest post in this thread:

1. BE BEAR AWARE. If you leave your crap around, I'll put it in your car overnight for you...messy and all, so that the bears head to it. Responsibility is everyone's job.
Any kind of bear container or way to keep food out of reach for bears is REQUIRED. After talking to a few people, there have been a few bear sightings lately so we want to reduce our risk of a busted vehicle.

Minimum Equipment Requirements for HARD Trail Run (aka event requirements, so follow them )
1: Visibly charged fire extinguisher (BC or ABC type)
2: First Aid Kit
3: Adequate spare tire, jack, and lug wrench*.
4: Safety belts for driver and all passengers.
5: Adequate tow points. Must be of OEM or greater integrity (no three bolt cheap brackets), d-rings, shackels, etc are all good as long as the hook or bumper brackets meet or exceed the OEM kit. Welded tow hooks are not allowed.
6: Snatch strap without metal hooks.
7: Battery must be properly secured.

*Notes*
Rule 3 may be waived at trail leaders discretion.

1. Seatbelts for driver and passengers
2. Adequate spare tire, jack, and lug wrench

Safety Rules
Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is not permitted.
Safety belt use is mandatory.
Pets should be well-behaved or secured.
Do not exceed the maximum speed limit on all roads, public or private.

Suggested Equipment
In addition to the above list of required equipment the following equipment is recommended when out on the trail:
CB Radio
Extra food & water in vehicle
Flashlights in vehicle
Blanket or sleeping bag in vehicle

PS: If you DO NOT have the required equipment, it is up to the the trail leader to let you join.

The van will be ok only one spot that isn't pure fire road and its just a couple rocks
That area is more mountain lion territory (I've seen 4 close to that site in recent years)than bears I do suggest bigger dogs going but no pocket pets unless you want them to become a snack.

Sorry for my laziness but I'm not in the mood to ready through this whole thread and I want to know some facts. What's the plan/trails you guys are running Saturday? Start-time and location? I would like to join you guys if your doing some of the more intersting trails like John Bull, Dishpan, etc.
