Better headlights

I finally made and installed my own wiring harness to go with my autopal H4's. Wow it was an improvement with night and day difference, literally . Just throwing H4's in was an improvement over stock but the harness made it great, stupid 18 gauge stock crap.

Some people underestimate the value of the harness as far as improved lighting. The real bonus is that your headlight switch, plug, and associated wiring doesn't melt.

Not to revive a dead thread, but - the Putco H4 harness, can it be used with the stock headlamps? I would think it would be a different kind of connector, but I see people on many threads saying to upgrade the harness before doing anything else, and I don't see how you could do that if it won't work with stock.

Absolutely can and is highly recommended to do so. Your lights will be about 30 to 40 percent brighter and the high electrical load will be removed from your headlight switch. Easy to install, too.

The terminals on the halogen lamps are arranged exactly the same as the sealed beams, so yeah, the sealed beams plug into the harness just like the H4/9003/HB2 lamps do.

It's me again. I was looking on Amazon for headlamp housings when I discovered that there are two different Autopals listed:

http://www.amazon.com/AutoPal-Clear-H6054-Headlights-Non-Sealed/dp/B007JOHHWY/

http://www.amazon.com/AutoPal-H6054-200mm-Headlights-Non-Sealed/dp/B006WCOG5A/

It really looks like one of these is the same as the recommended Autopal on eBay - but is the other one the same thing only in a DOT-legal light pattern? Does anyone have direct experience with the difference in these Autopal versions? (I can't afford Cibies or some such).

DO you know if they have the e-code light pattern that is supposed to be so much better?

There are 3 Autopal housings: E code, DOT compliant, and cheesy.

ECE / E-code, what a lot of folks are using, me included.

DOT compliant (I hadn't seen these until recently)

Cheesy

No, the DOT won't have the E code cutoff, and I wouldn't even consider the diamond cut whatever, personally.

Yep, but it's funny how eBay won't accept Amazon gift certificates. :)

Since the thread's been revived, I'll ask. Everywhere I look, all the info is for the normal XJ headlights. Does anyone have any info on any sort of Wagoneer (4 headlight) upgrade (housing and/or harness)?

Thanks!

Unfortunately they don't seem to be the standard size 4-rectangular lights, they're H4701/4703

I wouldn't recommend buying from the link I'm about to post, but there is an "also used" guide in there, maybe you can find a good quality E-code and/or projector conversion to fit in place of those lights?

Might almost be easier/cheaper to use a Cherokee nose, although I do understand the desire to look different and keep the Waggy nose.

Edit: looks like Hella used to sell a conversion but does not any longer.

you're looking for the "150mm" lights. Maybe you can find some used on fleaBay? I bet all the Camaro guys are looking for them though :(

Edit2: here's your high beam - eBay no. 160751621078 (Bosch 16506325) - don't seem to be any good conversions for the low beam up right now. Personally if I had a waggy I'd jump on a pair of those.

Thanks for the info....just needed the push in the right direction! When I find something for the low beams, I'll post it here :)

There are always the LED Lights from:

Didn't say they were inexpensive...

I was about to mention this, from what I've read from other forums that the light output on these are incredible! they are drop in replacement but they are not cheap but I believe its worth every penny, I am even contemplating buying a set. Here's the link where you can find a detail thread of these lights:

What do you guys think?

Upgraded headlight harness, IPF H4 housings, your choice of bulbs, maybe some aux lighting.. done.

Does the Autopal dude on eBay not actually ever sell the lights for less than the "buy it now", even though he puts the "make offer" on the listing? I've sent in 3 "make offers" and every single one has expired without him even responding... just wondering if he's also gonna not respond if I actually buy them.
