Best way to deal with brakes to remove axle?

for the benefit of someone searching this in the future.

if your going to be junking the old axle and/or hard lines you can cut the hard line on the axle with a pair of wire dikes. this will pinch the cut end together. if its still leaking crimp it more with a pair of pliers. then when you need to put your new axles hard line on you can remove the crimped stub and connect your new hard line. i have done this with a couple ZJ prop valves that i grabbed at the junkyard. it helps keep the rest of my crap from getting brake fluid all over it.

or you can remove the backing plate/ brake assembly from the axle and tie it up out of the way until its time to connect the new brakes.
