I've heard Rocky Road's are pretty good and I like thier mounting setup. I am not really into having ones with a step design. Any opinions on other brands would be great. Thanks!

c4x4 has the best rocker gaurds out there!!!!!

Rock Roads are about the best or their design atleast. ORGS is another comany that makes reall god ones but about any out there will work well.
The best if your really need heavy duty rockere proctection is to cut the old out and have box welded back in. I had this done and I feel it's alot stouter then the any other type plus you don't loos clearnace under the door. I have a piece of tube welded to the outside of the box to act as a pivot point and give it a cleaner look.

My AJ's Armor ones held up in Moab this past weekend. I've got the 2x4 design, I like the coverage. Some go for 2x2, so you don't get mud on your pants when you step out and rub against it, but hell, if that bothers ya, get a parachute, and jump out..

I've beat teh crap out of my c4x4 double tube sliders and I can finally say now that they are pretty much done. They have bent to the point of my doors hitting them and all of those small plate supports they use to connect the upper tube to the lower tube have now pushed into my rockers and have put small dents there.
I thought about doing the tubing thing, but I'm afraid that if I do that then I will end up smashing those up and I for real won't be able to close my doors.
So, I'm kind of at a loss for where to go from here....maybe buy another set of c4x4s? I think the design is good....and how long can you REALLY expect them to last?

Personally, I would not cut out the rockers and replace them with box unless you're tieing them(welding) into something more than just the sheet metal.

They cut all the back back to the pinch seam and so far they are very stout. I doubt they will ever move enough to start to rip, but we'll see.

Here's what it looks like when you cut out your rockers...
...you can weld it all you want but you're still just welding to weak sheet metal. I'm sure it would hold up to moderate wheeling but once you venture into the big rocks they're likely to smash up.

We'll see, there are no small rocks or moderate wheeling here. If they have any chance of failing I'll find it.

rock ratz trail rails! no ground clearance loss. not for everyone but they suit me fine for hi-lifting and stumping.
