Hi All,
I really want to get into fabbing my own XJ stuff (roof rack, bumpers, etc) but never learned to weld. I'm in Northern VA and was wondering if anyone knows a good place to look for a class or something.

Thanks

Try your local high school adult education classes, or check for tech classes at a local community/technical college.

I took a class from my locall Comunity college was fun and learned a ton, my welds still look crappy but I know tehy are strong, the appearance gets better each day

I learned first on the farm but didn't get good at it until I took a class at the local technical college. A few classes and put beads on all the scrap metal you can get your hands on!:)

Go out and get a ton of 1/8" plate and cut it into small pieces. Weld for about 20 minutes every night. The next day, cut the pieces you welded apart. You'll get good at it as you progress. It's all about practice.

I'm taking welding courses at Parkland in Champaign IL, community colleges are the way to go. I'm taking the classes as part of a degree program, but some people in the class are just taking it to learn. Most of the basic classes can be taken without seeking a degree or certificate. Check the nearest CC.
