By Lamb, I mean '86 Fiero, but the girls wont know.....<br/>

So....if the frame was "stretched to 10.3 inches" how small was it to start with?

I so want this, but know I don't have the room, and it would take me forever to get to it.

Clean it up, throw in a V8 if you're inclined, a newer interior and it would be an awesome rig to drive around.

My dad has a '53 pickup that we will one day restore. Been in the family since new.

In all my free time, with the money picked from the money tree out back, I would be torn to do a restoration, or some sort of resto mod. The 4 banger go devil is not exactly the most powerful thing in the world, but I think anything else would be a waste, and not nearly as cool. I would do disk brakes, and maybe upgrade the D27/D25? to a D44 or 30 as well.

Make it look something like this:

Part of me would want to, and then another part of me wouldn't since if I'm going to put that much effort into a motor...I'd prefer something with a little more grunt and less possible problems. The other thing I'd be worried about it just flat out being able to find parts/pieces for anything drive train related. I'd be half tempted to find a wrecked Wagoneer and swap the drivetrain and differentials in from that.

Original is cool, but it gets to a point to where you have to be SUPER dedicated and willing to spend $ to keep it "original".

Something like this (minus the crappy chrome steelies):

Turbo Diesel MJ with a supposed 35k miles for $1000, too bad its in Meeker! Need work but really who cares. http://rockies.craigslist.org/cto/4939860253.html

Called the guy (y'all knew I would........).

Truck had alot lower miles when sold by the mine, since then has had unknown number of owners. Seller hasn't seen or heard it run, says the guy he got it from said it ran. Said the bed was gone when he got it, he took the t-case for another project. Says the fuel tank "should be there" but doesn't know why it's not visible in the photos. No rear drive shaft.

He's gonna swing by his uncle's land where it's stored and get back to me about the tank.

While the unicorn effect is massive with this truck, so are the parts. 2 guys on ComancheClub are Diesel MJ fanatics and have done nationwide parts searches looking for any leftovers on dusty shelves and have hoarded what little parts they could find.

A new in the box injection pump sold on ebay last year for over $2,000.... to someone in Europe.

Getting the timing belt installed correctly requires a special tool.... that no one has. A CC member has pics of a tool he made.

So, while cool and interesting....... this has massive P.I.T.A. written all over it.

Interesting side note though...... Winnebago produced a motorhome with this very same engine. Of which I believe Kronik still has one - if not 2 of......

So, what your really saying is...that hunk of crap is exactly what it looks like...a hunk of crap?

:D

LOL....... pretty much. I personally wouldn't own/drive one. Who wants a whopping 85hp that makes so much noise you can't hold a conversation next to it?

It's definitely worth snatching for it's parts. Several CC guys needing parts to keep the diesel rigs they have running.
