Best of Craigslist

Maybe they're using the same math as these people:

http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/4471000828.html <-- A "new" motor = never getting that money back

Let me see if I understand this... Being both Old and Decrepid, I may have this wrong.

An engine is considered "new" with 10,000 miles on it....

And all this time I was labouring under the delusion that "new" meant, well, "new"...

Based off of this, my Heep is chock-a-block full of "new" parts. And, it should easily sell for $50,000 with this one as the $10k reference.

What are these people smoking? Oh, yah, right, we know what they are smoking...

Looks nice.. other than the crunched door- http://cosprings.craigslist.org/cto/4499690007.html

Six inch lift with no long arms probably means this was a budget build and thus not worth the $$$, which seems like more than the sum of its parts+labor. But maybe the fact it's a late model means something?

Speaking as someone with a 5.5" short arm daily driver though: ouch. (Wish I knew better when I bought it, but I needed transportation and it was $1200 and running, so...)

That thing is sweet

What?!.....

That has to be a scam, typo, or there's something seriously wrong with it. Otherwise, can I borrow someone's trailer for a day?

Ha I know right that's one freaking BAD A$$ XJ. I'm gonna try and get hold of him this weekend if I get any time off from work and take a couple hour road trip and take a look

Never been before then, not a fan. Sorry to anyone from there, but it smelled like horse manuer like crazy, sad little towns along with way with unfreindly locals.
Made me appreciate home in the springs for sure!

LOL. I'm from there. I won't argue. Mexi food rocks, though.

Buy it.

The 900 series has a Cummins 6CTA8.3 as I recall. Automatic trans unfortunately, but IIRC you want one of those anyways...

They are a lot of fun to drive. Not very fast.

That is pricey, but it appears to have been thoroughly gone through and already has super singles on it.

All the A2's ran the super singles. They also have CTIS, which is great in theory but a constant nightmare to keep working correctly.

The transmission is pretty power robbing, but it would probably work a lot better with ATF in it. The military runs 15w40 in the engine and trans for logistical reasons, and then we constantly replace transmissions because of their money saving idea.

That 6CTA8.3 is a gutless dog but I'm sure could be easily tuned for more power. It's turbocharged too. The older NHC-250 was naturally aspirated and made the same power, of course at 14l it has almost twice the displacement.

Those were in the A1 trucks and that mister engine combined with smaller tires always made those the power houses over the A2's.

Personally I hate the 900 series 5tons and am eagerly waiting for them all to be turned in. The new FMTV's are better in a lot of ways except for all the electrical crap on them. I honestly miss the old m35a2 2.5tons and 800 series 5tons. Tough as nails and easy to work on.
