What are some good quality, yet cheap 5.25" speakers? My stock ones suck... cant even hear it with the windows open.

Thanks,

What year XJ do you have?? I have a 1998 and I put in 6.5" speakers front and rear, and I went with a decent set of Kenwood speakers, but I would recommend honestly either Kenwood or Pioneer.. But that is just me.. Yeah you can find cheaper that will sound good for now, such as Sony, walmart brands, but in the long run you want something that will hold up for a while!!

I bought some Kicker DS5250s for about 25. Sound pretty good to me, especially considering what I paid. I'd also say go larger if you can. I would have, but I couldn't find another set of DS600s as cheap.

I have a 96 4d sport. How hard is it to fit larger speakers?

How cheap is cheap? I got two pair of JL Audio 5.25" 2-ways for $99 ea. That was a year or two ago, though. They sound better than any 6.5" I've ever heard, and they fit without modification (hard to believe when you see the size of the voice coil magnets on them...). Go to Crutchfield and look around, they include any mounting hardware needed at no extra cost, too.

Cheers,

i got my alpine type s 5.25 from crutchfield for 80 for two pairs shipped. great sound plenty of high end and fairly deep bass. cant hit some of those real lows like in some rock songs but song really good.

I would look at hifonics, I got mine from onlinecarstereo.com and paid about 30 dollars and i love them. They are great for mid-highrange and are very clean output. I am running mine off of a 250 watt amp but I'm sure they would do well off of the head unit. I have been very surprised how they handle the power and I have no problems with distortion, even when I turn up metal on them.

Hope that helps

I installed 6.5" Infinitys in mine. Very little grinding around the lip and drilled new screw holes. Easy, easy.

I used to have 5.25" Pioneer 2 ways in the front doors. I now have some 6.5" Pioneer 4 ways, they just fit. I have always liked Pioneer stuff and I've had a lot of it. It all sounds good and costs a lot less than the "real" stuff.

Pioneers are great for the $. Have em in my XJ, as well as several other buddies.

i think i paid 37-47 for my pioneers from best buy, they sound pretty decent for what i paid, im impressed, i beleive if i amped them they would sound better than my 250 dollar crystals or focals in my honda...

i replaced all my speakers with alpine sps 13c2 from crutchfield while they were on slae, and am very pleased sound is clean, try to match the speakers with your head unit, if not sure the customer service at any stero store can help
