If you're not going to amplify, a lot of the mentioned speakers will sound like shit. I've found expensive power-hungry speakers to exhibit distortion when under-powered. I've had very good luck with the Infinity reference series (if they still make them) as they are made to operate at lower power levels. They sound decent with a stock deck and excellent with an after-market.

Stick with the walmart pioneers. Sound great. $50, cant be too wrong. I love them.

i think i paid 37-47 for my pioneers from best buy, they sound pretty decent for what i paid, im impressed, i beleive if i amped them they would sound better than my 250 dollar crystals or focals in my honda...

I have a pair of kenwood 5.25"s that I pulled from my hatch..

Actually I found a full set of four JBL 5.25" in the junkyard, $10 each. They sound great. Also found a set of Polk Audio 6x9 and 4x6 in a Cadillac, that I ended up putting in my Cadillac, and moved the GM stock 6x9 to the Jeep.

Basically look for Jeeps that have had custom sound (ie, aftermarket head unit installed/missing, different speaker grills, etc) and then pop the door panel back. You'll find some interesting stuff

FWIW, I recently bought a set of 6.5" Phoenix Gold seperates off of Amazon for $40. They seem to like lots of power, though. Not sure a you'd like them without a dedicated amplifier.
